Broken Hudl2?

I thought i'd woken to a broken screen  this morning. But it wasn't...

Black screen, thought tablet had run out of battery overnight.

Plugged in to charge it, no charging LED.  Tried power button several times.

No luck.  Tried power button + Vol up, power button & vol down several times.

Eventually rebooted on a power button + vol down for a few seconds.

Showed 41% battery left.

Most disconcerting.

Have had exactly the same problem, has only happened once so far. Never had a problem like that with the first hudl.

Same here this morning, whole thing looked dead but I didn't panic cos that comes later (after it's rooted), just left it plugged in for a bit and the LED lit up red and it booted on about 19% power . . .

Has happened for a second time for me.

This time while listening to a podcast on iPlayer Radio. Screen went black, and the audio came out like a stuck CD. I imagine it would have gone on 'jumping' until the battery ran out of juice.

Battery was at 60%, so not a low-power issue.

A few minutes of power button and volume button pushing in no rememberable  pattern rebooted it.

Bloody annoying.

Sounds like it rebooted on its own.

With the amount of manual intervention I gave it I think not...

It got me out of my relaxing-soak-in-the-bath-after-a-long-day to address it in no uncertain terms.

I managed to get it onto the 'Fastboot' screen while I was giving it hell. That surprised me.

Well this sucks. If it keeps doing it, you might start to miss calls or maybe you'll find it in this state when you really want to use it. I have to return my own due to a display problem but haven't witnessed this "playing dead" behaviour. If it keeps doing it, return it, I think.

Do you have a hudl2 with a broken screen perhaps that's destined for the bin?

Hit me up.

P

My little girl dropped my Hudl 2 (slate grey) onto the tiled floor yesterday. Screen is now broken and digistiser isn't working properly either (only about 1/4 of screen registers touch). I'm wondering about repurposing it as an android media center, but what did you have in mind?
