Guest crusader58 Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) The 70% that this refers to is battery usage, not power. Being as the screen is the main interface, this will always be high. Granted, usage converts to power and the brightness level affects how much power the screen is drawing, but the bigger power hog with regard to the screen is the touch sensors...so if you find yourself constantly tapping the screen you can expect significantly less battery life. Background apps are the main culprits when it comes to reduced battery life, and of these I've found that Goggle Services is the worst, so the first apps I force close after powering up (and waiting 2 mins for the system to fully initialize) are:- Google Account Manager Google Backup Transport Google One Time Init Google Partner Setup Google Play Games Google Play Store Google+ YouTube Google Play Services in that order and after every time that I've visited the Play Store or any other Google related app, I force close the above again. I've found battery life is much better this way. Also I keep screen brightness below 50% (usually about 10%-20%) and not Auto, as Auto is continually polling the sensor and therefore using more power. Edited June 16, 2015 by crusader58

Guest crusader58 Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 that's about normal for gaming, I get slightly more battery time if after playing a game, I don't just exit it but also force close it too, as many games continue to broadcast in the background even after exiting them.
Guest samac Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 You can disable the following google apps with no problems: All start with google Contacts sync one time init partner set up play books, games, movies & TV, music, newsstand search text to speech engine google+ samac
Guest r00tmydevices Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Tesco offered me another repair of existing unit (erm...no thanks, you didn't correctly fix it the first time so I have little faith it'll be fixed after a second attempt!) or an exchange for a brand new unit (yes please!) Popped into local store, only to find they no longer stock hudl 2's and so I'll have to travel circa 20 miles round trip to a larger branch!
Guest crusader58 Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 you can have Tesco drop it off at your local branch, they do that
Guest r00tmydevices Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 you can have Tesco drop it off at your local branch, they do that Thanks for the heads up. Phoned Tesco hudl 2 technical support and tried arranging that but was told more than once, they cannot do this for me. Was then asked if this was originally purchased instore at Tesco or from Tesco Direct? As it was the latter was then advised to phone them. Duly did and have now arranged for a brand new unit to be delivered to me and the old faulty unit collected tomorrow. Even better than I expected. Must say dealing with Tesco has been very straight forward. They have been very efficient. What sadly lets everything down is the issues that the tablet clearly has and the third party repair company that they use.
Guest bugeyes Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 Cheers for this thread guys! I was seriously considering returning my hudle 2 due to battery life, where even if I turned WiFi off the battery would only last me 8 hours in standby! After turning the WiFi to always off in deep sleep and never to poll for available networks the battery only lost 5% over night! Much happier now!!
