Guest Alg0r1thm Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Hello guys. This is Alg0r1thm the guy that created the laek v4 repack on needrom. (I have requested a username change here, this is an old idle account) Since people are asking me what was the point of making this repack: -> Laek v4 contains UPDATED baseband that radically improves 3g reception in some problematic city areas (compared to v3). -> The kernel from v4 was more power hungry therefore a kernel downgrade was necessary. -> The lack of boot logo in laek v4 causes a very annoying bug when flashing over a jellybean rom: A red exclamation mark appears before the boot animation due to boot logo incompatibilities. Since a lot of people do not like multiple patches a self-contained rom had to be created. But I also included the different kernel versions in case you want to revert. Also i wasn't 100% sure whether laek had done changes from v3 to v4 so i decided to stick to v4. Taking under consideration that many newbie users really mess things up with multiple cwm zip patches I decided to make one single rom. This is a wonderful forum thanks to everyone for their contribution!
Guest dakok Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Thanks Alg0r1thm! I hope we will se more od you here :)
Guest xeros2 Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Thanks Alg0r1thm! Do you have any plans to merge it / update with next 4.4 stock ROMs later?
Guest Alg0r1thm Posted October 28, 2014 Report Posted October 28, 2014 I already tried the micromax kernel on laek v4 but no luck, the framework refuses to cooperate. Due to lack of time though I didn't take this any further. It is puzzling how big the a310 boot.img is in contrast to laek. 10mb vs ~5...
Guest xeros2 Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Where is that baseband upgrade located? I can't find it in your zip file.
Guest Alg0r1thm Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 AFAIK It should be the file(s) modem*.img located inside the folder system/etc/firmware. Although this is indeed the baseband on mt6589 i guess it remains the same on mt6592. Laek said he updated it from v3 to v4 as stated on http://www.needrom.com/download/aosp-4-4-v2-multilanguage-laek-17/ His own words are: "CHANGES V4 Updated Kernel and baseband to v009" Please take under consideration that i did not explicitly verify whether the firmware files have indeed been changed from v3. I count on laek's word :-) Personally I noticed an improvement on 3g signal reception from v3 to v4. But if the modem firmware is the same then... It must be the weather :-p
Guest Alg0r1thm Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 @xeros2: Laek probably means the modem firmware by saying "baseband" and not the nvram partition. I don't think i saw any nvram image inside any of his v3-v4 roms if that's what you mean. My limited mediatek experience tells me that this would be scary. But now that i think of it: After flashing one of his older roms (don't remember which one) my macaddress got changed to a generic one. This was really annoying and can't think any other way to do it apart from messing with the nvram partition/files.
Guest matejsolid Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 I have even worse battery life on v3 kernel :/ I described my situation in other topic I have unexplained battery drain on laek.17 v4 with v3 kernel.Baterry usually lasted for a day ( morning 8-9 am ) until bed ( 00:00 for instance ),almost 4 and half screen on tim,now I cant get 3 hours ???Same usage more so,I dont play games now like before and battery time is dissapointing...Anyone experiencing this, what to do,maybe reverse to v4 kernel, this should be more baterry optimizing and im experiencing opposite :/ So how to reverse to v2 kernel maybe ?
Guest xeros2 Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 It's not the kernel issue. Check what's draining battery. I suppose it must be any app, because I & few others don't have such issue with this rom & v3 kernel. Btw. I see that from v3 to v4 Walkman music app has got removed. I was getting used to it and probably I will copy it from v3 ROM ;-)
Guest matejsolid Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Unwanted apps like games, chat etc,who could cause wakelocks greenified,it started like one day I got only 3 hours of sot and week ago almost 4h30 sot... Yeah I'll have to check out with GSam battery monitor :) I didnt install yesterday any app which could drain so quickly battery
Guest matejsolid Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 Since when stock music app drains so much battery ? I always thought that music in background drains close to nothing battery ? This is only usage during one hour,10% of battery gone with nothing of gaming, chatting only music and 3G enabled ( as I stated earlier,I didnt have this issue earlier :/ ) ...
Guest dalyer Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 As ever there are tools to diagnose battery drain - e.g. CPU Spy Wakelock Detector BetterBatteryStats and lots more.
Guest matejsolid Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 As ever there are tools to diagnose battery drain - e.g. CPU Spy Wakelock Detector BetterBatteryStats and lots more. Thanks I installed wakelock detector and gsam battery monitor, also I bought Greenify plus version so we'll see. I remembered I enabled anti theft option in settings, could this drain battery ?
Guest Milanche78 Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 I get an error when trying to add APN for data transfer, so no good.
Guest Alg0r1thm Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Ok guys i found the culprit that resets macaddress to a generic one and also locks audio values in mobile uncle: Inside system/etc/init.d from laek v4 flashable zip: (script is 1Audio.rmg) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ #!/system/bin/sh mount -o remount rw /data mount -o remount rw /system cat /system/etc/init.d/WIFI>/data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/WIFI cat /system/etc/init.d/WIFI_CUSTOM>/data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/WIFI_CUSTOM cat /system/etc/init.d/Audio_ver1_Vol_custom>/data/nvram/APCFG/APRDCL/Audio_ver1_Vol_custom rm /system/etc/init.d/01Audio -------------------------------------------------------------- I cannot believe how insane that script is and who put it in there i dunno. And it does run during rom installation so it resets the macaddress. Sh1ttt... I will fix it asap on the repack.
Guest 77chedu Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Could you also add this apns-conf too? It's from this rom http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=3676170059&uk=3426443552 It includes apns for some spanish mobile virtual network operators (at least that I know off). It's not a big deal because it's easy enough to setup an apn, but it's nice to have "out of the box" support nonetheless Also, since it doesn't seem that Laek's planning to release a v5, are you maybe considering it? I mean, releasing a new AOSP altogether, not just patches or repacks Cheers, apns-conf.xml Edited November 25, 2014 by 77chedu
Guest slime00 Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 yes Alg0r1thm, I think you could be the only one right now keeping alive this rom... fixing those bugs you found and updating baseband/kernel/drivers when new coolpad's official releases are out can save this rom from obsolescence!
Guest xeros2 Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Yeah, it's good rom anyway, but that 3D performance... and unfortunately, I see that Coolpad doesn't do anything about that in recent releases. They focus on minor UI improvements instead. I was going to adapt 4.2.2 kernel (3.4.39) with update of init scripts in boot.img with requirements from 4.4.2, but I found too many dependencies on newer kernel build (3.4.67) in 4.4.2. So far all the roms (even different android version ports from other phones (like MLAIS 4.4.3)) have the same either 3.4.39 or 3.4.67 stock kernels from Coolpad. Well, generally Coolpad releasing monolitic kernel builds with proprietary drivers builtin breaks major laws of GPL. According to GPL now they have to release complete kernel sources (including proprietary code inside, not just open source parts + proprietary binaries that can be linked with custom built kernel)... but who has any contact to Coolpad to request that? Edited December 1, 2014 by xeros2
Guest Arpione Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 Coolpad is a chinese company and as such they don't give a f*ck about laws outside of China. BTW the Doogee DG550 has the same chipset and same crappy 3d Antutu points so it may be Mediatek's fault.
Guest slime00 Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 unfortunately, the only contact we had was a mail address ([email protected])which bounced back every mail we sent... so we should find another way to ask for those sources!
Guest matejsolid Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 I'm using laek.17 v4 rom and its excellent for over 2 months, two bugs only. 1.Black screen while someone calls me,first I have to unlock then I'll see caller id. Any way to fix this issue ? 2.Second,I dont get vibration feedback when I receive notification altough I choose vibrate mode or Outdoor ? Vibration works perfectly but I dont see why I cant receive vibration feedback ?
Guest rista1 Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) 1 Install gravity box and in options phone tweaks /fullscreen caller photo /enable-full try aosp 4.4maucat camera is better and I think it's better Edited December 17, 2014 by rista1
Guest matejsolid Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Maucat AOSP is really good :) Thanks when I catch free time I'll flash it. Battery life compared to laek.17 and camera ? Also laek.17 camera is bad, autofocus is slow and some other bugs...
Guest rista1 Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Camera is better, battery life is +
