Because your device is still a dual-SIM device no matter if you're only using a single SIM in it. Bootloader most likely kicks the radio/modem in different mode on these devices. It doesn't matter what your device called either (Kis 3, V811W, or whatever). This same device (with slight variations) is branded differently on different carriers and regions (and even depending what operating system it ships with).

Google added native dual-SIM support to Android in Lollipop (CM12/CM12.1). Previously CyanogenMod (CM11) used Qualcomm's dual-SIM implementation. Proprietary RIL libs in all CM builds for this device are pulled from the stock KitKat. Easiest way to fix dual-SIM on Lollipop would be to use RIL proprietaries from stock Lollipop (like we did on my Moto G that also has a dual-SIM variant). Chances of ZTE releasing an official Lollipop update for this device are pretty much non-existent, though. For any other possible options (creating custom RIL class, building RIL from source, etc), I would need to have a dual-SIM device to test with.

So there's few options:
1) Use CM11 and stop whining
2) Someone who has a dual-SIM variant (and knows what he/she is doing) can fix it and share the fix with the community
3) Someone can send me a dual-SIM variant so I can work on dual-SIM support (with no strings attached, can't guarantee anything)

Hi, KonstaT!

I installed a new ROM and I am very pleased. Somehow magically cleared approx. 20-30 MB. Thank you very much. And the question is: is it possible to run the FM transmitter, since its beginnings can be seen in the "Radio"? Thank you.

You can run it but it's not going to work. ;) The Qualcomm chip itself (WCN3620 - wlan/bt/fm-combo) might have fm transmitter capabilities but there's no antenna for it. And even if there was, getting any audio routed to the transmitter would be the next problem. This is the case on all modern devices (some pre-Lumia Nokias supported this IIRC).

There's a system property that needs to be set (ro.fm.transmitter=true). If it's not set, package manager disables the component and it gets hidden from the launcher. Clearing data for FM2 app isn't likely enough so you'd also need to manually re-enable the component, or just do a factory reset when you're testing this.

I've used a lot of the roms availble for the zte open c and i feel that this is the best in terms of battery life and performance. Thank you for your work for making this phone usable.

Can anyone please explain to me how to use the windows flasher step by step. I want to increase the /data partition but I'm not so good at these things.

I'm writing just to indicate that it also works on the ZTE C EN OPEN FR ! It's great thank you .

Hey KonstaT, great work. The rom runs well, but I was wandering if I could tweak anything to make it run more smoothly, or to improve battery life. Do you have any advice for me?

There's no magic tricks and if there was some quick fix, don't you think it would be already included by default.

CyanogenMod has battery profiles under Settings -> Battery -> Battery mode. As usual, there's trade-off between performance and battery life.

New build. Pulled relevant changes from the new kernel source ZTE released today. Devices with Goodix GT960F touchscreen hardware should be finally supported. :) There's also a minor update to taos als/proximity driver (changed threshold values) but since my Open C doesn't have a sensor, I don't know if it makes things better or worse. By public demand, I've increased volume on speaker, handset and headphones paths. There's few tricks to this as each can only be increased to a certain limit before running into issues. At least in-call audio should be much louder now. Feedback is still welcome (distortion on high volumes, headphones cutting off, etc).

-increase volume (speaker, handset and headphones)
-updates from new ZTE kernel source release (i.e. Goodix GT960F touchscreen support)
-patch CVE-2015-3636 in kernel
-address some SELinux denials
-LCD density option (merged)

Increased volume on speaker is working great when I am using my phone for navigation in the car.

Thank you.

I made a restart/reboot of the phone this afternoon, but still the same.

Hey KonstaT, i know this is offtopic but how about developing on Samsung Galaxy Core 2? Because i buyed it, but it doesn't have any official updates or ROMs. Again sorry for offtopic!!!

If your asking me to do something, the answer is exactly the same as for any other device that I don't have. ;)

It seems Samsung Galaxy Core 2 has an Alwinner A10 chipset which is very exotic for a phone (the first one I've ever seen :o). I know there's some Allwinner tablets that have unofficial CyanogenMod ports though. They're still hacked together using stock kernel and bunch of prebuilt binary drivers.

Generally speaking Qualcomm devices with unlocked/unlockable bootloaders are very developer friendly what comes to building AOSP based ROMs (CyangoenMod, etc). Nexus devices are brilliant of course and you can also get away with a device that has similar hardware to its Nexus sibling (Nexus S - Galaxy S, Nexus 9 - Nvidia Shield, etc). Everything else depends on your skill level. Custom recoveries and modified stock ROMs are possible on pretty much any unlocked device.

Hi,

found something strange with the new build. I've conneted my phone to my linux server all time I am at home for charging. Since the new build there are usb disconnects an reconnects about every hour in the server log. I checked twice, it is exacly since the new build was installed on my phone, here is the server log:

I made a restart/reboot of the phone this afternoon, but still the same.

There's was a change I pulled from the updated ZTE source release that's likely related. Does it cause any issues besides the log spam on the host side? I only tested USB and AC charging and both worked fine.

I had no other issue besides to log spam til now. If this behavior is normal, it is ok I think.

Yes, it is very exotic, I checked it now and saw

HD Video Decoding (Super HD 2160P/3D Film) :o And the resolution of the phone is 800x480 but i can watch 1080p videos!!!

Not sure if it's "normal". It could possibly cause issues if your device happens to disconnect at a wrong time. I've had my device connected to my computer for about an hour and a half now, enough to charge my battery to 100% plus one extra hour. I'm not seeing any USB disconnects/re-connects on my host's dmesg. Something else wrong in your end?

Recent ZTE stock ROMs should behave the same way (if ZTE actually released kernel source that matches what they're shipping on devices :P). There's my CAF Android build with the stock kernel add-on that you could test and see if it does the same thing. Might be also worth reverting back to the previous build to verify it's not happening there.

Nothing else. Perhaps a issue with centos kernel or power managment settings on my server in combination with the ZTE update.

The MotoG (2nd gen) of my wife on the same usb port does no disconnects / reconnects. I have plugged it in to test the port since about 21:00.

The one hour period of the disconnects / reconnects is suspicious, but I have no idea what that can be.

I will do a reboot on my server and wait what will happen till tomorrow.

Very strange, no more log spam after a reboot of my server (left the phone plugged in during reboot). I will look again in the log after pugging in my phone this evening.

AnTuTu 3D test works just fine and I haven't received any reports about games not working either.

Something must be wrong ar your end. Make sure you've followed installation instructions in the third post and post a logcat if you still can reproduce your issue on a clean install.

I will reinstall this rom again although I followed these steps to the letter , as I do a logcat ?
