MIUI internal storage almost full overnight

I went sleeping and left phone with 2.2 GB of free internal storage,woke up and there was only 750 MB free,I didnt download anything overnight,what is android inaccesible files and how to remove it ? ( MIUI 7 )

Maybe use something like DiskUsage to see what's using the storage?

Edit: just ran Storage Analyser on mine and it shows 

Total: 5.68GB

Used: 2.85GB

Free: 2.83GB

Publicly accessible: 447MB

Inaccessible: 2.4GB

Looking at DiskUsage 447MB correlates to "media" files and 2.4GB correlates to apps.

It happened me once similiar thing and I transfered pictures and videos from internal to external from Windows but this is weird as it happened overnight and as I said I didnt download nor installed any new apps,only this time I was on 2G network because Wi-Fi network was down.

Yeah - bit confusing alright...

I always find the Anrdoid storage layouts and reporting confusing to be honest.

Have you tried clearing all app caches just in case that's an issue?

There are lots of tools for doing this in a single button push.

Would using a terminal and tools like df, du etc. help at all I wonder?

Hi guys,

For this case I found that the best solution is to use the full version of link2sd app ( either cracked or paid - I recommend this last option, it's really cheap and very much worth it).

So in order to make it work you need to format the SD card into 2 different partitions. One has to be ext2 so that link2sd can recognize it and use it to emulate extra internal memory. In the app settings > "native app2sd settings" choose automatic and never internal or external.

I can give you my example in attachment.

I'm currently using around 2/3 gb more than I should be able to ...

This will fix your internal memory problems for any rom.

Small clarification - it doesn't have to be ext2 it can be ext4 or one of the other Unix/Linux filesystem formats that are supported.

It must also be a primary partition.
