I'm trying to root the stock Irish 6.0.1 rom. I can't downgrade because the update installed a new recovery that won't accept the 5.1 ROM or the stock Turkish recovery.

Has anyone here had success rooting Marshmallow?

Thanks.

Both of you, you can't use kingroot on marshmallow and using the latest recovery (if you're on marshmallow u have it) flash the latest Turkish 5.1.1 (can be found on this forum) then root using kingroot once downgraded to lollipop, go to Google Play download 'flashify' and download the TWRP from the topic on this forum, flash TWRP (make a backup beforehand if u wish), boot into twrp, flash the zip in this thread, then flash SU zip and that's it u have Marshmallow with root

BTW I'm Irish too ^_^

Then you wouldn't need to flash any ROM :D kingroot root access can be replaced with SuperSU easily, there are even apps to replace it. But I tried like 3 days straight and had no luck getting any sort of root on MM, if u do let us know :)

So when can we expect some good custom ROMs, when VF-995N Marshmallow(6.0) Kernel is alrady released on ZTE site?

So, there's still no way to root the device and install TWRP?
Now with the kernel already released it should be a breeze no?

hi thanks for posting this, I was looking for this ROM for a while, I installed it, and it works really good, and really fast compared to all the other ROMs I installed, more with android 5.1.1, did a antutu benchmark, and beat all the others.

I'm on CM12.1. I flashed this ROM and it got stuck on the Powered by Vodafone screen. Do I have to do something else to be able to flash Marshmallow?

UPDATE : It works. Though the best way to do it is like this.

  1. Do a nandroid backup.
  2. Flash the ROM, then reboot.
  3. Go through the setup.
  4. Reboot into the recovery.
  5. Flash the SU zip.
  6. Done.

I found that when I did them both at the same time, the phone never really went past the boot screen.

Now to find a way to hide the awful Carrier ID.

If you don't already have root and custom recovery there are some threads on here that should help you with getting that.

Does this ROM come with the option to use your SD card as adoptable storage?

Seems pretty stupid to have everything being saved to the phone's memory since I have a 16GB microSD card inserted with no option to move ANYTHING to the SD card.

Found a problem that's been bugging me a lot - For some reason none of the thumbnails load! Also the gallery app ends up becoming unusable if you navigate it enough.

EDIT: Apparently right after I boot up the phone all the thumbnails load up nicely, but if i exit that folder, boom, they all disappear again.

Wiped using TWRP,

Have the 6.0.1 ROM on my external SD

Tried to install the ROM from TWRP and it says

"no MD5 file found

...

/system at /system: device or resource busy

symlink: some symlinks failed

Updater process ended with ERROR: 7

Error installing zip file '/external_sd/root/ROM 6.0.1.zip'"

Do you know what has caused this error?

Thanks

Did you extract the zip files from inside the 6.0.1.zip?
