Couldn't turn off phone...now can't start it

I couldn't turn off my Moto G or reboot it using the usual method. Also tried a soft reboot but that wouldn't work either. So, I drained the battery to get it to shut off. I connected it to usb charger and charged it for a few hours. When I tried to start the phone it will not boot up.When I plug it into usb charger, the Motorola screen comes up that has text below that says "POWERED BY android" and then screen with battery icon shows up and has 100%. When I hold the power button down the usual amount of time, it does nothing. I am starting to lose it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have so much on my phone that I depend on. Thanks.
