Guest Rog Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 My picture manager crashes when I try to scroll through the thumbnails! Anyone else got this problem?
Guest jtsaint Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 I have had the picture manager problem since I installed the dk update a while back. A first looks it seems good, but when you need to take a few photos it can really mess up crashing etc.
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Picture manager and sound manager are just the same components that you had when composing a mms message. All they've done is give you direct access to them. I always found the picture taking app to be unstable and unreliable, it's better in the upgrade but still rubbish. I took about 200 pics on my phone when I was on holiday using IA Album and it worked perfectly. My only problem with IA Album was that after taking photos when you power off your phone it hangs rather than powering off.
Guest Rob.P Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Went as smooth as, now have a de-cert, de-simlocked, strong signal, better batt phone, I like this phone it just gets better and better, now to have another word with Macromedia about getting a flash player for the phone.
Guest mike-oh Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Eventualy got it to work. Had to go to a friends house who has xp though! grrrrr, why the hell didn't they mention this before i started wasting time and money downloading it on my 56k only to find 98s/e doesn't like it! seems faster and more stable. I'm dubious about the siginal strength though. All though it has been improved could this be something to do with an improved refresh of the signal strength display rather than improved signal. I could go all day (before the update) with my phone showing the same strength as when i woke up regardless of where i was travelling.
Guest Oli Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 did the update yesterday and went fine. the battery life seems alot better...
Guest RMWD Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Did update today after reading of all the Win98SE woes. Used my daughters computer with XP and not only did update but downloades the USB terminal and the SIM unlock for future use. No problems and phone works fine. All my unlocked apps work fine also without reloading the IPMS. Happy.
Guest clifhanger_uk Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 after umming and arring for ages I wnt in head first - and all went ok - definately got a better signal, well see about bat life and the crashing problem.... Looks good so far, now to unlock the buggar so I can get some cool apps!! :)
Guest Yousaf Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 so far so good! havnt had it crash yet! and to top it all off my spv is unlocked :) it couldnt be more sweet!
Guest srandrews Posted February 25, 2003 Report Posted February 25, 2003 Update went well, apart from the Updating... Do Not Close screen, but a power off sorted that after 30 mins. The signal strength is much better and calls seem to be clearer as well. Also does a much better job at playing variable bit rate MP3, although not quite perfect. (I think I'll stick to standard 64kbps!). Not sure about the battery life, doesn;t seem to be much of an improvement, but will see how this goes over the next few days. Only one noticable problem, seems that after making a call the system is slower, even worse than before the update, the hour glass keeps coming up during Tetris on Gnuboy and scrolling through the menus is painful, a reboot fixes this though. Oh, and I thought I'd fried my phone, but soon realised that you could only press the left soft key to wake the phone up! :) Overall though, very impressed! Simon
Guest pete1312 Posted February 26, 2003 Report Posted February 26, 2003 Eventually got Update loaded late Tues (Win 98/SE/ME incompatibility problems). Used the French/UK work-around posted elsewhere - worked a treat. NO thanks to Orange
Guest FragMeister Posted February 27, 2003 Report Posted February 27, 2003 I am a Win98 leper at home, but my boss let me use his laptop for the upgrade. It then sat on the "Updating... do not close" until I read elsewhere that if this happens to turn off phone. Since then, menus are much faster, scrolling of emails is supersonic and the battery life is improved. I have not noticed any signal strength improvement, but dont rely on the signal strength indicator, cos on my phone it lies (saying I have 3 bars at work, when I know for damn sure I only get the one dot).
