Anyway here is yet another one to consider and this time i mainly moved the text over to the right and the actual colour logo on the left is in full view without the text over. Also mild change to www.modaco.com font and copyright inserted. Feedback again welcome! ;) Laterz.

What exactly do you mean? May i sugest to you than rather than picking at other peoples work you try and bring something more constructive to the forums here. Sorry if i seem a bit harsh with you here but i am quite moved by the fact that you are willing to call others for what you have also done in your work but didnt seem to make the realisation on it. Secondly i have only used this with firstly asking if i can so thats another little fact you didnt know! Anyhow as Paul has mentioned he wants original artowork i will take this out and put something similar to it in its place. (So lets get this straight it will be my work in place of it and if it does look similar then its my own work ok!! Also if you look at the majority of some other peoples work you will notice that they too have borrowed some images and used them in thier entry's but i for one dont go round critisizing them, nor do i try and label them a thief or the like, as i respect their time and hard work they have put in and see their entry as great artistic creations. Should Paul go round now wasting his time telling these people that they shouldnt be doing this as i think he will just make the disicsion at the end of the compo. I thank you for staining some peoples views of me and tainting my entry as null and void and any chance i had of winning with any other work ive done now or do in the future. Guest midnight Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 i'm a semi-professional artist m8, and nothing is more annoying than someone stealing your work, thats why i had to speak out, if you asked permission from both parties then fine, but, paul did say he wanted original artwork. And, when it all comes down to it, paul is gonna pick something that is original, cool looking, and will fit a variety of material, ie clothing, mugs, website etc.
Guest DJ WATTS Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 midnight for your information that image is from the adobe photoshop elements CDROM and as i have purchased the full version i have the license to use it and do with it what i see fit. I have made a few alterations to the image to what i wanted and that was the end result. If they are using a similar image then that is up to them but i have the 1600x1200 original image on my CD. So yes this is my work and i will use it! Also ive noticed midnight you are developing some games that are based on previous game characters. You could get into some serious legal issues as bub n bob are licensened and im assuming you have a license to use thier names and create software based on them? Oh and by the way i take it you drew that image you entered into the compo? :)
Guest midnight Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 people asked for bubble bobble, i gave them bubble bubble, and as the game will be freeware, and all graphics have been redrawn i very much doubt any legal issues will arise (if you have a problem with this taito, let me know :wink: ) and as you will have noticed, most if not all of the games that are arriving on the smartphone are remakes of original games, gonna have a go at the creators of those games aswell? and yes, i did draw that image, quickly made i admit, and if you think the quality isnt that good then maybe you'd like to see some proper artwork by me? all i was saying is that paul asked (in the very first post) that all artwork be original, which is a fair request if you ask me

Obviously if that had won and other authors found out at later date that it was not your original work, i'm sure they and Paul would not be happy. My intention was not to stain some peoples views of you nor tainting any chance you had of winning with any other work you've done now or do in the future. If you look most of my posts in this thread are favourable to your work, and i wish you every success in this competition. Lastly, May i sugest to you than rather than picking at other peoples work you try and bring something more constructive to the forums here. erm, i think you'll find my posts to Newbies question in Help and Adivce very constructive and helpful - launching a personal attack on me will win you no friends :roll: As I said I did not set out to upset anyone and just needed to point out that a graphic had been copied and was not the authors own work. If i had recognised any other graphic in anyone else's "serious" entry i would/will do the same. Just to reiterate, DJ Watts i do like your other entries and i do wish you luck in the competition :)

There are still copyright issues you know Example: If i draw an image of a pepsi can and then use this companys name/image to do whatever with it i want it is in violation of their trademark and unless you have asked if its ok by the original company then it is in fact ilegal. Dont go and bring other peoples freeware work as an example and try to rally support to your couse as my quarm is with you as you were the one of the original person that were calling me in this thread. I respect your work and i have no problem with other peoples work they do and i dont care what you or other developers are doing. I know there are copyright issues there with what people like you are doing but it DOES NOT bother me so i dont say anything but you did with me however and do you really think this was fair. I also have a problem with the fact you felt it fit for yourself to jump in and comment on it. all i was saying is that paul asked (in the very first post) that all artwork be original, which is a fair request if you ask me Exactly, it should of been Paul who should of said anything, if he had anything at all to say about it at all. Guess my logo was quite good then judging by you two destroying it the way you have done which leads me to believe there is a certain amount of jealousy going on here. At the end of the day, no matter what i do now with work i have done or may do you have both systematically ruined any chances i had of winning so i thank you for that but let me just say to you midnight though even though you have done this i am NOT the sort of person to inform CAPCOM on what YOU are up to with the Bub n Bob trademark and let them know you are stealing their characters. Guess thats the sort of person i am! :)

You say that my work is faivourable by other users that have commented on it but do you think that Paul would choose something by me with all this going on? I think not. Anyway im not going to bother anymore and i am thinking about removing all my entries even though my work is original. I dont think i should have to stick up for myself the way i have when i know the facts when others dont.

But i do think Paul is a reasonable guy and judge all enteries on there individual merit. I do hope you don't give-up just because of one faux pas, however i do feel the best way would be to withdraw that one entry (it's definitly not your best anyway :)). Lets be cool out there people ;)
