:) I'm almost very happy!

Your second set of connection settings which you use for WAP, are listed as being configured to "Connects to: The Internet"

If you set it to do this, you cannot set it to be your WAP connection. I'm use my initiative and set it to "Connects to: WAP" and give it a try.

Cheers!

-Alistair, I've not managed to get it working on my SPV (I only got the thing today!) I've just head a LOT of experience setting up people up on O2. Trust it to be me who gets stuck!

Oh... my... god....

Thank you.

EDIT: I can only view the homepage, nothing else seems to work.

EDIT: I can only view the homepage, nothing else seems to work.

I thought that I was stuck on the homepage last night, it just refused to connect to anything else; but after a few attempts it just started working fine - I've now been to a few different www. pages to show off to my flat mates (who were far less impressed than I was) and diconnected and reconnected without problem.

I didn't really know what I was doing, so it was a case of trial and error - maybe you need to change the connection settings under the internet explorer options menu? I've got mine set to:

Do NOT automatically detect settings

Select Network : The Internet

I don't know if that's any help at all, but as i don't really know what i'm doing it's my best suggestion.

Hope you get it sorted! Ali

Ali,

I still cannot browse outside of the O2 wap portal, the news pages or Microsoft's WAP Hotmail service for exmaple do not connect at all.

I've worked out that it is because the address that the phone connectes to is home to both an WML (WAP) and a HTML (Internet) homepage. http:mobile.msn.com (Hotmail via WAP) is one such site. There is a fix to this which will allow you to view full HTML and use MSN instant messenger.

Email O2 using their help(!) pages, and ask for MobileWeb to be activated. The first few kb's or mb's (dependant on tariff) are stiff free, and the "out of bundle" cost are the same at £2.35 per mb, but you get full Internet access, which is guaranteed to work with the SPV.

They may tell you that you'll loose the MMS service, but this is no longer true. I've just asked for mine to be enabled so i'll let you know the results.

Excellent, will be keen to hear how it goes! Is there definitely no monthly subscription of any kind? Alistair.

BTW: My MMS works perfectly (via NowMMS)

There are two monthly subscriptions. 5mb is £15 and I forget the other. Its listed on the O2 site under Products & services/MobileWEB and on the business pages.

I'm affraid i didn't play around with it a great deal, but the settings i was playing around with were as follows: The first set were recomended by Syvwlch, the second by O2. Best thing to do is to try and work through changing them one by one. (Or request GPRS to be enabled on your handset, which is free unless you have to upgrade from an out dated tariff to get it, ie. genie)

Dial-Up Connections :

GSM CSD internet access

Connects to : "The Internet"

Country code : "44"

Area code : "9"

Phone Number : "15000"

Username : "o2wap"

Password : "password"

Domain : blank

Country code: +44

Dialling code: 7712

Phone Number: 927927

username: o2wap

password: password

domain: wap.o2.co.uk

IP address: 193.113.200.195

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Alistair

I forgot to report back. Using the mobile.o2.co.uk access point gives full access to all data (WAP, EMAIL, Internet, MSN etc.) and to the personalised Orange Portal.

Access to this has to be requested from your service provider, they know it as a "O2 MobileWeb."
