Guest MasterGouken Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 I have a Mitac Mio 8380 on Vodafone PAYG (UK). I have the sim update for GPRS and MMS and i have entered the settings for a GPRS connection into my phone (as shown on this forum). I STILL can not connect via GPRS to the net. I tried calling Vodafone customer services and they have never heard of my model of phone, but they confirmed all my settings are correct! I keep getting the error.."Unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again" in Internet Explorer. I even tried using Jbrowser but it has the error "Error making connection". This is driving me mad!! Can someone please help..or offer some advice? If this continues i may try another sim...maybe T Mobile or Orange, to see if its a problem with Vodafone. Any help greatly appreciated!

Guest colcraig72 Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I have a Mitac Mio 8390 and I have tried every set of settings from Page 2 onwards and still no joy with sending pics. I have managed to receive some though from my wife's phone. I am using an O2 (Genie) Pay & Go Sim (The £10 monthly top up), but when trying to put in the MMS Settings I draw a blank. Everyone mentions a port number, on the MMS Settings on my phone there is only the following fields to be filled in: Name: O2 MMS MMSC URL: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 WAP Gateway: 193/113/200.195 I have GPRS enabled on my phone (as denoted on the screen) I have been given the O2 Generic Settings from O2 as well, but the MMS Settings have more entried than I have space for. The only thing I can think of is that i am trying to put the MMS Settings into the wrong place  Has anyone managed to get this enabled on this phone ??? Any helpwould be gratefully appreciated.

Guest birkylad Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 Hi all I need help i have just bought a used XDA 2 on ebay sim free locked on o2. when it came i put my o2 pay and go sim card inn all was well. then i tried to go on the internet and it would not let me connect so i could not send picture messages. I took it to the o2 shop and they tried to input the settings but had no joy the problem was ( i think ) when i go into MY XDA and then CONNECTIONS it gives mr three opptions GERMANY, IRELAND, OR UK, but when i tick uk it will only let me tick postpaid and wont let me tick prepaid. o2 shop said the xda does not work on prepaid in the uk is ths right. please help, BIRKYLAD
Guest birkylad Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 why can't i choose prepaid when ticking uk will this make a difference
Guest martin Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 the problem was ( i think ) when i go into MY XDA and then CONNECTIONS it gives mr three opptions GERMANY, IRELAND, OR UK, but when i tick uk it will only let me tick postpaid and wont let me tick prepaid. o2 shop said the xda does not work on prepaid in the uk is ths right. I think what what they mean is that the O2 prepaid SIM does not offer the full GPRS internet service that you need to allow complete functionality of the XDAII. You should still be able to use the CSD WAP and GPRS WAP service that will allow HTML browsing and MMS but you may have problems with secure connections, MSN messenger, E-mail (POP3) and others. I don't have an ZDAII myself but I would probably try the following. Good Luck ^_^ Setup WAP GPRS with the instructions from filesaveas but you will need to change some of the settings to reflect prepaid. Note the instruction are for CSD WAP but the GPRS WAP ammendments are at the bottom of the page, http://www.filesaveas.com/pocketpcwap.html Prepaid GPRS WAP settings. On your XDA II: Go to Start, Settings, Connections tab Tap the Connections applet Tap the Advanced tab Tap the Select Networks button Under "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:", tap New Enter "My ISP name" as "O2 MMS" Tap the "Modem" tab Tap the "New" button Under "Make New Connection", enter the connection name as "O2" Change the Modem from "Cellular Line" to "Cellular Line (GPRS)" and click Next Enter the access point name as "payandgo.o2.co.uk" and click Next Tap Finish Change the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" back to your original Internet connection Tap OK Go to Start, Programs, and launch MMS Composer Go to the Tools, Options menu Change "Connect Via" to "O2 MMS" Tap on the Servers tab Tap on the existing Server defined Enter the "Server Name" as "O2" Enter the "Gateway" as "193.113:200:195" Enter the "Server Address as http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 Tap OK Tap on the Preferences tab Ensure that "Connect to Server:" reads "O2"

All I've got is: APN: internet.be user:internet password:internet but no combbination worked Anybody ? Welcome Double-D You could try and setup the phone using the hellomoto links which automatically send the settings to your phone and the MPX200 option works for all smartphones . I would fist delete all existing dialup, proxy and GPRS connections in your phone. Also make sure that have a top centre G displayed on the phone when it is first switched on to indicate that GPRS is enabled by network provider. If you have the top centre G and you then continue to get 'unable to connect' errors then you you will need to confirm with Happy many that you are subscribed to the actual GPRS internet service. Guest tattoo_uk Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Hi guys Have got all the answers I needed so far from this site and my E100 has a new lease of life apart from one thing. I cannot receive MMS, I have checked the repository and entered the settings for all the O2 PAYG connections and it all appears to be working apart from receiving MMS. I can send them fine and they arrive quickly at the destination, just that when I send one from my other mobile back to my O2 phone I do not get anything, no mms, and not even a text message to advise me to go to a web site to view the image. I have done the following: Contact O2 and got GPRS and MMS enabled. I have the G at the top of the home screen showing that GPRS is active. I can send pics till the cows come home and they arrive fine. Sending pics the other way does nothing, they send fine but no arrival. If anyone can lend a hand it would be very much appreciated.

Guest tattoo_uk Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Had a horrible feeling that this may be the case. If anyone knows any different can they please let me know as it is a shame that this device is working in all other respects. Have a colleague at work who used to have an original SPV and says he used to have this working but it was some time ago. Does anyone know if putting 2003 on the phone will make any difference or is this more than likely just going to have to be written off? Cheers
Guest birkylad Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 cheers martin but still not working just wont connect are you sure it works on payandgo
