Guest HelloDave Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Surely one look at the freechit.com site would have rung alarm bells; even the URL tells me this is not the sort of site you want to hand money over to! Some of the quotes on the forum from "honest users" are great - the "change to refund policy" especially! These things do annoy me though becuase the only winners are the little s*ds who set the site up.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I borrowed spacemonkey's (yes I did ask) post and posted in their forum to see if what sort of reaction it would get. Only the site admin commented on it everryone else was so blind they totaly ignored it and carried on in their dream world :roll: Here's the reply all I can say if you don't like the way it works, then go pay retail. Everyone who gets involved here knows exactly how it works. However, we have plans to help auto-cycle the lists as they get longer. We will have a cut-off point for all lines. They will not continue forever.
Guest Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Years back, folk at work were seriously into the am-way thing, and trying to persuade me to join. I went to one of the meetings, and when I started to question what they were saying (cos it sounded such a con), the only response they could give was to try and rubbish me, saying I must be thick not to understand. These people do tend to get very blinkered about it, only have one way to explain it (the one they have been brain washed to say), and seem to be blind to the actual maths of the thing. If it looks too good to be true, and all that!
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Here's the reply Better than ever... God knows what "auto-cycling" is but, the lines will have a cut off point, they won't go on forever (cos we don't want the maths to get stupid like my previous post...) So, lets set the cut off at 100,000 people on the list, that sounds good. 100,000 people will buy 6666 laptops. Then the list cuts off cos it's full. So it doesn't get exponentially longer, but 93,334 people have paid £150 for an e-book and will get no "prize". HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Guest martin Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Original quote from Greg. the only catch is you may have to wait around 1-2 months Here's the list so far (for the Alienware P4 3ghz laptop ) C'mon Greg were rooting for ya. 1. John Ritz (4-1-03) 2. Eric D. (4-1-03) 3. Linzy Adams (4-1-03) 4. Koty Yell (4-01-03) 5. Erle Thomson (4-01-03) 6. Kenneth Crews (4-06-03) 7. Gregory Shaw (4-06-03) 8. Jonathan Kelfer (4-16-03) 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. Also, these are the members who have stated their locations. Madwaver: Ontario, Canada, ritzcompca: california Sir CHIT ALot: TEXAS FreakyChit: Texas bmxguy0969: Michigan staymia: Chit Town, USA! I think Sir CHIT ALot is the site owner. (based in Texas) Poor Greg ;)
Guest Richie M Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Hehehe notice he's not posted since? :)And he has only viewed this thread 5 times :shock: Whereas Mono's viewed it 26 :shock: As Martin said C'mon Greg were rooting for ya ;)
Guest martin Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 It seems that Greg is now representing Britain in the chit table. Therefore, I have decided that I no longer want MoDaCo merchandise. I want a 'support GREG' T-shirt. He'd have been better off with a Lap Top dancer for £150.
Guest Richie M Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 how about a "I'm with Greg --->" T-shirt (instead of "I'm with Stupid ---->" :roll:)
Guest Rob.P Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I was gonna have a look to see what it was all about and read the forum, that sort of blinkered-ness (make words up as I go along me ;) ) fascinates me, unfortunately for me our company network has blocked the site, there goes my fun for this afternoon.
Guest mashkhan Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I really hope Greg get's his laptop, then he'll show you all. It'll be a great week for him, first his free bus pass and then his laptop.
Guest superkingdave Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 and whats the bet that the shipping costs more than the laptop is worth when he finally gets it
Guest HelloDave Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Apparently the website pays for shipping, because (and I quote) "we're such nice guys". Love it! Bearing in mind the only people likely to get a laptop are the site owners, who probably see each other regularly anyway, i'd say they're on a winner with that one! ;) Quick, everyone sign up now before the list for the laptop gets cut off! :wink:
Guest superkingdave Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 they only pay shipping in the us But hey greg wont need to worry about that for a while but hey hes probably not really bothered he is too engrossed in his e book. anyway good news for greg is that there are two bargain hunters below him on the list ;) only ninety three more greg and the laptops yours. moderators what about giving greg a new rank 'forum idiot'
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 Superkingdave that's a bit harsh, play nice ;)
