Guest Hanukkah Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 This process didn't work for me. It would re-appear everytime I restarted the phone. And yes, everything started from an sms2mail setting..etc. I didn't only have a Phantom sms counter of (-1), but I had a phantom email count of 42! ... I just hard resetted my phone to get rid of everything! grrrr!
Guest mikedenton Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 righto, I have had this problem for what seems like ages, and it has been doing my head in!!! But i think i have the solition, without deleting your cemail.vol file and nuking all of your texts/mail. bear with me, and if this does not work for you i am sorry! firstly you need some sort of reg editor (I used dbviewsp) available on Monolithix's site. 1) use the DBViewSP editor to go to IPSMcemail.vol 2) under that go to 'pmailNamedProps' and select it to edit the values 3) scroll down to the very last 2 values, which should be called 'UnreadCou...' 4) delete them 5) restart 6) smile coz u just got rid of that damn annoying message thing!! hope that this works for you guys, it worked for me! Please if you do do this make a backup of your .vol file 'just in case'! sometimes even this genius makes a breakthrough... [Edited to replace reg editore with DBViewSP - Will]
Guest Fick Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 It's probably best to put your problem in the text rather than in the subject, but never mind. You need to download this, and copy the file dbViewSp_Arm onto your phone. I put in on my storage card and made a shortcut to it on my start menu. Then run it and you should be able to follow the instructions. There is a bit more detail about how to use dbviewsp in a post by Leggy at the start of this thread. Hope this helps.
Guest Stryper Aquila Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 where can i download dbviewsp?
Guest Stryper Aquila Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 whew! i erased the two last values at IPSMcemail.volpmailNamedProps but it wasnt working! my inbox instead give me 6digit numbers!!!!HEEELLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!! What will I do??????
Guest Stryper Aquila Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 HUURRAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Your a GENIUS!!!!!Top of the Line!!!!!!

Guest BrAGoL Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 phantom sms occured to me early this evening... tried the procedure by EMGenius... and it worked! ;) EMGenius, you're trully a Genius!!! :D
Guest crypto Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 I updated my SAP with this nice tip but my friends' SAP doesn't reflect the changes. On his SAP, I deleted the two entries of Unread... and restarted the phone. After that, it still displays the Email count of 465356456!!! and upon going to his inbox, there's still the (-1) message counter.. Any ideas guys?
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 @crypto weird. i also had that figures in the counter but after doing EMGenius' instructions then a reset, counters went back to zero.
Guest sweetyls Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 i'll have to try this. does this permanently fix the phantom sms? or do we have to do this everytime we reset the phone? also, is there a fix for that email count of 465356456. it's irritating... ;)
Guest ses Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 @ EMGenious MARAMING SALAMAT (MANY THANKS in English), it got rid of my phantom sms and email. But it did hang my phone when I restarted it. Just took the battery off, restart it again and all is well. Cheers! @pzee Nice gif, Mabuhay ka tol! Just a feedback: I first experienced this phantom sms when I first used the basic light text format of the screen. I just did a hard reset. It happened again when I began using the SMS ToolBox
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 @ses tnx. i never had a problem with the phantom sms after this fix. i make sure that i use the built-in inbox reader nung phone to read new sms into folders. creating new sms, replies, forwarding taken care of the built-in program and not the sms toolbox app. just a suggestion.
Guest thespiz Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 I know this is not the same as the problem you're discussing, but in my "Deleted Items" I have two SMS messages that just refuse to disappear when I choose Empty Folder. I can't restore them either or do anything with them - they've been there since August. I'm on Orange UK with a first-gen SPV
Guest chia_7285 Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 @thespiz The SMS msgs in your deleted items folder ARE the so called PHANTOM MESSAGES too. I think doing the procedures posted above will help delete them.
Guest mcgurkepi Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 heh, sounds like it works..i have had exactly the same problem with my answerphone message icon..and have had both at the same time for a few days now, kind of annoying. i got a answerphone message, listened to it, deleted it, and hung up, but the icon hasn't dissapeared yet. if anyone can help me then i would be eternally greatfull, gonna try the sms fix when i get my laptop working..haven't spoke to orange yet, but i figured this would be a much better place to come to.. :)
