Guest dharden Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 genius indeed! it appeared on my mpx200 yesterday, after doing what a few other people reckon causes it and trying to read an email before it was fully downloaded. the fix works perfectly - just deleting the last record. cheers, EMgenius!
Guest Godfather Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Aswome EMGenius, that fix couldn't have worked any better. Thanks a lot!!!
Guest ronswens Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 EMGenius, man, you are cool, many thanks!
Guest Jarrett350 Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Hey, I tried the fix and downloaded the reg edit software, but was unable to open this file to edit it. It gave me a windows error when I opened the program. I just deleted the file and it fixed my problem, but what about the future and I have things I don't want to lose. Can you Help. Thanks.
Guest Panja Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Sorry for the "dumb" question. But what is this Phantom SMS? And why would I want to fix it? Tnx
Guest RichChrisB Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Great fix. Thought I had read this before but didn't have a Phantom SMS (showing you have unopened mail when you don't for the guy who just asked). I just got a Phantom SMS yesterday and went searching back through the site for the fix. Awesome job!
Guest Belgarath Krall Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 problem sorted, nothing like digging around in your phone's guts to make you feel like you know what's going on...even if I don't :) Thanx for the fix oh Genuis type person
Guest dude55 Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I've got this again :D Showed as 1 SMS message, I ran the phantom sms cab file given by pzee, that gave me 1 unread email, I tried the dbview thing and the phantom sms buster a few times and it's still stuck on 1 email. Any ideas? Cheers.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 hmmmm :-? Try to turn off your radio first (Airplane mode) then do the db view trick (delete last 2 unread counts), reboot phone, execute phantom email buster app then reboot again. Incoming SMS messages may interfere with the removal process. So play safe...turn radio signal off first. If you still get the phantom email, try to change your homescreen. I believe some homescreens/themes are 'prone' to the bug. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest dude55 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Thanks for your reply, I just tried all that, with radio off all the time, I ran db view, rebooted, ran phantom buster, reboot, changed home screen, ran phantom buster, reboot, change home screen, ran phantom buster etc. Still stuck on 1 unread email. :D
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Kindly check your PM. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Still stuck on 1 unread email despite all the suggestions? HARD RESET O:) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest dude55 Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Yeah, but thanks for the suggestions. I prefer to keep it there, rather than go through the hard reset process of backing/restoring everything.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 No problem mate. ;) Backup and restore concerns?...let Sprite do it for you. Im just not sure if the phantom email count would be restored by the app. :D Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest dude55 Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Thanks, I'll have a look at it. Edit: I fixed this, there was a bogus message at the end of all my messages (ok I never bothered going all the way down there, I've got a lot of messages). When I deleted that, my counter for email stayed at 1 and SMS counter went to 42xxxxx. Used phantom app, rebooted, same problem, used dbview, rebooted = fixed. cheers
Guest nazkor Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Well this happens when you don't read a post completely. I have a mpx200 and I deleted both two last lines (and of course did not backup the .vol file). Now my email counter is a 10 digit number, my sms counter is not updating (currently at 7) and I get 2 sms every time I restart my phone. Does anyone have a clue?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Hard Reset would be the best option in this case :D
Guest nazkor Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 ouch, well obviously I would like to try to avoid a hard reset. It doesn't annoy me that much at the moment, since I rarely use SMS and the like. It just looks a bit ugly. But maybe I will be forced by other things to do a hard reset then this will be "repaired" also.
Guest KaZoN Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Superb post. The sms thing was driving me nuts. Thanx for the info :)
Guest Akademiks Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 I have downloaded several editors and downloaded them. How do I locate the registry and get it to even open to edit? I keep deleting the editors because I can't locate the registry to open it. Someone help.

Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Db View SP available on Monolithix's site: http://www.monolithix.org/SPV_software.html :D
Guest Akademiks Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Thanks. I got it. The site was down on this end for the last two-three days.
