Question: If I don't need any of my messages can I just delete (maybe move off would be better) the cemail.vol file and have it be recreated?

@mfioble

Yep. You can also rename your 'unwanted' cemail.vol, restart phone then you'll have a new cemail.vol.

I know this is not the same as the problem you're discussing, but in my "Deleted Items" I have two SMS messages that just refuse to disappear when I choose Empty Folder.  I can't restore them either or do anything with them - they've been there since August.

I'm on Orange UK with a first-gen SPV

I have a similar problem as thespiz... though mine's

reporting three (3) msgs and has been there since

October '04. :(

Anyone care to answer this one out? Thanks :)

my problem is a wee bit different. when I power up the phone, the sms alert rings on the smartphone 2002 screen...The envelope symbol is in the top corner, but the counter is still on zero, when I open my inbox its empty.. Is the same proceedure gonna cure this?

Could be a variant of phantom sms. Try the trick.

Guys,

My problem is with phantom MMS messages, I tried the procedure in the first post but it does not fix this issue - can you suggest what might work for MMS??

Second, I cant back up my cemail.vol file it says its set to read only. I check the file props and it is not, any suggestions?

I have a C500, the cemail.vol file is in the Storage directory not the IPSM dir correct? (I dont have a IPSM dir)

Thanks for your help

Close tmail.exe first before doing the trick. Use Task manager to close tmail.exe.

Sige try mo na lang muna yung sinabi ko. Basta kill tmail.exe before using the tool then reboot phone.

Pag ayaw pa din, basahin mo sa Jeyo Mobile Companion then maybe you can backup your SMS. Tapos rename mo na lang cemail.vol to get a fresh cemail.vol, yun nga lang burado mga messages mo.

Goodluck. ;)

The solution listed in the first post on this thread (using dbviewsp) worked perfect on my Cingular 2125 (WM5). Use the ARM version of dbviewsp. Thanks EMGenius and Monolithix, you guys rock!
