I am a new smart phone user and I have no idea how to use the MMC card or the SD card. What card would you suggest? Any specific brand? Or should I use the Smart Memory Card? When I load the card into the mobile phone, what are my next steps? I cannot seem to find any option buttons for this new hardware application inside my phone. How do I install it into my phone? please advise.

You have to use an MMC or SD type card. I use SD.

Once its plugged into your phone sync with the cradle then double click my computer and go to smartphonestorage card.

Just copy anf files you want there.

On phone goto the media player and select your files to play them.

Somthing like that anyway

Welcome to the site ;)

I would suggest you use SD cards as they are faster and more reliable,

I would also recommend that you use some sort of file manager program,

as they make the phone and card more useable.

There are a number of them available now for certified and decerted phones.

A decerted phone means that you can run all smartphone software that

has not been signed by Orange's certification process.

The two file manager apps i have used are,

All-Explorer (certified) and Smart Explorer (un-certified).

Smart explorer gets my vote as it's very user friendly.

For more information on how to decertify (also called unlocking) can be found

in the Articles section.

Any problems just ask or post in the Help & Advice section :)

uy_richmond:

In terms of which brand to use any should do fine, as all companies making MMC / SD cards work to a published standard so *in theory* they should all be the same.

However, some people swear by certain brands, and won't use anything less than the big names.

Where to buy:

Check out this page http://www.coolsmartphone.com/memory.htm, or search this forum. The "Ebay Stores" link seems to be the best for price recently (256mb SD with USB reader for about £60 I think).

Hope that helps.

That's why I was recomending SD and not MMC, as MMC cards made

by Scandisk have been reported many times as not working on the

phone. No reason for this is known thats why I prefer to playsafe

with SD as there have been no reported problems with any brand.

I agree, I only use SD cards myself, and I have found no difference between brands of SD card.

MMC cards have a slightly different spec, the main noticeable difference being access speed. The problems with Scandisk SD cards are probably more to do with the SD standard than the manufacturer itself.

is it possible to store .wav files in the sd card and use it in the phone?

The main reason why i bought the sd card was to be able to store longer wav files.

If it is not possible to store .wavs in the sd card, then what else is its use

are there any good programs i can get because i really dont want the card to go to waste.

Also will adding the sd card in my phone improve the speed of the phone?

thanks

The registry editor isn't included in on the SPV. If your phone is decerted then you can install PHM Registry Editor which can be downloaded from Monolithix (along with loads of other useful software!!).

Hi, thanks so much,

Your website has been very helpful, thanks again

Is there any way to store and use more than one ringer tone or .wav file inside the storage card?

Can it still be used for caller groups?
