As i said last update staff had is that the bundle will run out in june - people's june bill date! then put onto £4 for 2mb useage - they changed the eqaul useage part of the deal as the gprs bundles has gone down by a huge sum - previously £8/mb after bundle and smallest was £4 for 0.5mb now £4 gives you 2 and after £3/mb so that aint really that bad. £15 gives you 7mb i think

That isn't much Internet use for your money. I tried to log onto my bank account last night to transfer some money. With the fiddly keyboard I must have kept entering the information wrongly. Used half a megabyte by the time I had finished. An expensive transfer!

OT: what bank/website do you use? full blown or is there a mobile version? I am looking for natwest/hsbc sites...

My billing cycle runs 12th-11th of month, so in my last bill it included the SPV pack until the 11th May. I phoned 152 and asked them. He said that it had been extended until the End of May or June. I then said "well is it May or June" and he replied "Yes".

Sitting on the fence too long gives you splinters in the arse!!!

When I pressed him to confirm the end date of the SPV pack, he said that it was still "under review".

I just spoke to 150, they had absolutely no clue. "something new is being introduced in June, but we have no information about it" She suggested 156 might have more info.

Called them and after going away to check, he confirmed that the gprs promotion pack IS being extended.

So, i'm going to cane the gprs next month and if i get billed more than £6, someone's in for an earbashing of biblical proportions!

I spoke to someone on 150 today, and after reading your posts, wanted to be sure about when it runs out for me. The guy didnt know, and I told him it was on my bill until middle of may. He said that it is only ending for new sign ups, and for the rest of us it will continue forever. I asked him to send me this in writing as I didnt fancy a bill for £200's worth of GPRS. He then got a little scared and said he would speak to the data services department. I got a call back from him with in 5 minutes, telling me that it would end after the next bill, so I would have it till the middle of june....then no more. The guys and supervisors on 150 know nothing about any changes. He also said that they will write to me and ask me of any changes before they make them......do you guys believe him?!?!?

Now we know why they left off the option to record conversations on the SPV :!:

Just called up Orange again. The guy I spoke to at least seemed to know what he was talking about. He said the GPRS Promo would be ending at end of May as its been extended by one month. Makes sense as I was billed until 10th May including the GPRS.

I intend ringing them up tomorrow morning as well though just to make sure.

Found within the Orange Website:

the SPV pack

The purchase of the SPV phone is subject to connection to the SPV promotional pack. It provides unlimited web browsing, email and access to a great range of information and entertainment services (terms and conditions apply) and costs £6 per month on top of your existing Service Plan. The pack can be purchased until 31st March 2003 and runs until 30th April 2003. At the end of the promotional period you will automatically be changed onto an equal or lower priced GPRS bundle with a megabyte cap.

Given this information it looks like they have the right to change the GPRS bundle that you are on, so long as you are not finacially disadvataged by the monthly line rental

I feel, quite frankly, that I've been swindled into getting an SPV based on the cheap data package.

Hmmm i think you will find that this info has been freely available through the website since day one, orange have not misled anyone here, they have NEVER said that this would anything but a PROMOTIONAL plan and as such they have the right to change/amend/withdraw at the drop of a hat. I wouldn't imagine watchdog would be interested when all along Orange have been up front about this tarrif.

Just been on the phone to orange this morning and they stated the SPV pack was closed yesterday to new customers and existing customers would be migrated on their june bill.

This is the same as what they told me previously but when i asked what package i would be migrated to she said that information wasn't available.

Another episode in the gprs fiasco:

I changed my talk plan (as of today) received 2 sim updates and re-booted. After this i have NO GPRS, no G in the top of the screen (was working fine just minutes before). Aparently 156 "are aware of an problem with the SPV" I'm now waiting their call-back with baited breath (and no gprs!)

In the course of the conversation, she said the pack has been extended until June, not indefinately as i was told yesterday.

3 hours and counting.........

I'm not happy at all, my GPRS has just stopped!! I just get the Unable to place call message when I try to use GPRS.

Silly me assumed that Orange would tell me what would happen when the pack ended, instead I just received a sim update without speaking to O (I thought it was linked to me asking for international roaming a couple of hours earlier as I'm off to Germany tomorrow) Instead I got removed from any kind of GPRS plan!!!!! Got bored on hold waiting to speak to someone on 156, I'll try again in the airport tomorrow. I suppose this will ruin any chances of sending Photos via e-mail while I'm away if they can't sort it.

I called 156 earlier after my GPRS indicator (the big G) disapeared after rebooting my phone, due to not having GPRS access since about 10am this morning.

All i could be told was that "engineers were worknig on the problem"

Ho hum...

Strange, I still have my "big G" but haven't been able to connect all day, hopefully not as bad as I thought then, bit of a coincidence it being 1st of May when I got cut off!

Do you get sent a sim update for international roaming? the bloke at O didn't tell me one would arrive, he just said it was now enabled.

I think i did, can't remember for sure though as i had it activated when i started my contract.

Have you tried rebooting your phone? As for coincedences, my GPRS died after i let my mate play with the phone earlier. He pressed one button and it hung hehe...

I have rebooted a couple of times, just tried once more for good luck, still get the error unable to place call, but still have my "G"

(amusing when the borg style voice theme says error, it sounds like a burp ;) )

Oh well, maybe E-plus network in Germany GPRS will be working okay!! It says on O's website that it's compatible for Orange internet settings (I think)

GPRS wasn't working for me earlier, but it seems fine now. Obviously the engineers have been hard at work (in Birmingham anyway!).

Earlier my WAP settings mysteriously changed so my SPV tried to access the internet via dial up instead of GRPS, and I know I didn't change anything! It hasn't been a good day for Orange data services... ;)

I regained my big G over night, however i've messed with my settings so much over yesterday afternoon it still isn't working hehe.

Edit- having said that i've just rebooted again and the G has gone again, nm.

My GPRS stopped working yesterday with the big G disappearing after a soft reset. Big G was back on this morning and GPRS working fine now ;)

It's only when people whose billing period runs from 1st May (or later) start getting their bills that anyone can actually say that the promotion is continuing further!

Hax

I have been billed from 24 April to 23 May . . . .

I wrote an email to Orange from their website a few days ago and have just got the following reply :

"I can confirm that the SPV GPRS Promotion was extended as a gesture of goodwill to our SPV customers. You will remain on the SPV Promotion until your June bill date. After your June bill date you will be automatically provisioned with our GPRS bundle 2."

Wicked!

I phoned Orange late last night about the GPRS problem and the SPV promotional pack. They said:

GPRS: There is a problem, we have been informed and are working on it.

SPV Pack: The pack continues as per normal. I will continue to be charged £6.00 for 10mb. He said it wasnt planning on being ended and if i were to go over the 10mb limit then they would inform me and start to charge me per mb after.

Anyone heard that to?? My GPRS is still on and off btw.
