That would be great if you could, I've only just worked out what MSN is, and haven't a foggiest what IRC is, since I thought it was the same as MSN :oops: and I'd love to see what happens for the draw.

my computer is not connected to internet as i am at uni. i get my access at uni or by my phone. does this mean i am not eligable for the tanager as i cant be on irc?

I find it weird that even if the Smartphone comes from the Philippines, there is no mention of any Philippine service provider or Smartphone 2002 product in the Philippines in the survey.

And if it did come from the Philippines, its not an SPVx. It would be the Smart Amazing Phone(SAP) from Smart Communications based on the Tanager reference model. The Smart Amazing Phone is the only Smartphone available in the Philippine market today and so far, only the smartphones from o2 and Mitac would be coming to the Philippines in the immediate future(we are actually testing the o2 smartphone engineering build and have been told by a cellular operator of their plans to launch the Mitac Smartphone), but nothing about the Orange SPVx.

Im also wondering how the Smart Amazing Phone would work with overseas network operators becuase it is SIM-Locked to the network of Smart Communications. Unless the SIM-Lock has been deliberatly disabled without the consent of Smart Communications.

"Tanager" is the HTC model name, the operators call it whatever they like. For Smart Communications it's the "SAP", in Europe it has been hint at as the SPVx or SPV e100. Either way, its the same phone, and us Europeans can identify more easily with SPVx or Tanager than "Smart Amazing Phone".

I've had a play with the Mitac, very nice phone and an impressive camera ;)

There are no laws against removing the SIM lock. If you have the means the operators have no rights to stop you removing the lock.

The o2 Smartphone is being tested by the President of our users group (Carlo Guerrero aka PPCSurfr) and i may get my turn to play with it next week, hopefully ;)

I regret to say that we were bound by an NDA so i wont be able to say more but i can say that the reference model isnt new. Not really that exiting, honestly. Im sure one can make a good guess which one it is.

I have a question about the tanager up for Grabs. What software version is it on and can the SPV OS updates from Orange be applied to it? Assuming that they can and this App locks the phone, does the official orange unlock site work?

Just wondering whether to take the money or the phone when I win ;)
