OK, Ive just parted with £6 for this title... its only £6 after all (dont I wish I hadnt wasted money on some of the earlier games... Full Hand Casino, Slurp)

Just installed the cab and registered and... I'm VERY impressed; slick graphics, full screen, intuative controls, dudes (and dudettes), its snails, what more can I say. This is the one I've been waiting for, and I can finally uninstall some of the other games I have.

If you are in two minds, dont be, get it

1 issue I have, I dont know how to turn the game FX off and people in the office keep looking at me everytime a snail goes "yeehaa"

Any questions just ask

Hey youngerpants - I was waiting from someone like you to ask a few Qs to before I buy the game ;) ! (I've looked on smartgamer and some others, but they only seem to talk about the PocketPC version??)

Anyhow... here goes:

Are the graphics smooth (high fps)?

What are the multiplayer options like (GPRS or hotseat?)?

I read that the screen size of smartphone makes playing it a bit

troublesome, is this true? And is there a landscape mode?

Does it have totally whacky weapons like Worms on PC did (super sheep, iron donkey, etc)?

Think that about covers it! Sorry for all the Qs!

Cheers!

Only down side i've found (after playing it all day and doing now work...) is its a little too easy. The AI can be fairly dubious at times, and all that increasing difficulty seems to do is increase the enemy's aim, they'll still randomly skip goes or fire at ranomd targets...

The gfx are very smooth, i've noticed a little slowdown when the computer first thinks about its move, however its very impressive other than that.

Multiplayer is hotsteat.

I've had no issues with the screen size, there are three "modes", panning over the map, moving youur snail, and aim/firing. Combined its very easy to see whats going on.

Not wacky as such, but they like their insects. To date i've attacked with fleas, ants (fun), mosquitos, worm's, crickets, and more ants. Airstrike drops random objects for some reason... (wheels, pipes etc..), nukes are also fun ;)

It's probably thew most impressive commerical game on the phone to date. I can't get enough of it :)

Sorry for the late reply, been playing snails

Are the graphics smooth (high fps)?

* Yup, the're fine

What are the multiplayer options like (GPRS or hotseat?)?

* hotseat, but hey, lets hope for V2

I read that the screen size of smartphone makes playing it a bit

troublesome, is this true? And is there a landscape mode?

* what mono said :wink:

Does it have totally whacky weapons like Worms on PC did (super sheep, iron donkey, etc)?

* the weapons are fine, plenty of choice (at first....)

And if you find the AI too easy, just pump-up the difficulty. Mono is also right about the dubious AI, the CPU snails keep hiding and wasting their goes, forcing me to come out into the open and get blasted

As Mono said, this is probably the most impressive commercial game I've seen on the SPV... but how do I turn the sound FX off!!!! its hard to sneak in a few games in the toilet cubicle when I'm supposed to be working (I always poo at work; I get paid for it and there is always toilet paper ;) )

There is a review of snails for the smartphone on smartgamer.org, although that was a prerelease copy, (for some reason there were 10 maps on the prerelease version, but in the release version only 5?? )

What is that money option you can set at the beginning of a game? And how can you choose your weapons? It seems random what weapons you get when you play...

Is it me, or is there no structure to the one player game? it's just ' here's a handfully of levels, here are a few options to play with, now make up your own game' ?

There should be a set number of levels to work through, before you have to create your own fun.

The game may well be fun in the short term, but without structure I'm not sure about it's lasting appeal.

keystroke, the money option is to allow for more/better weapons.

as for the structure, its based on worms, it allows you to play any level, but the key salespoint of this game is not single player, its in multiplayer, same as worms, much more fun with several people, of course, my question is, why restrict it to 2 player, worms was much more fun in 4 player mode. iits turn based, so very easy to implement.

err, just re-read keystrokes question, press the left softkey when in weapon mode to select different weapons

So what do you think guys? it it worth buying? how close is it to the original worms?

Guest Monolithix [MVP]

Far from the original worms, as kevlar pointed out it is limited in terms of modes and levels. Still good for some two player fun though. The wide range of weapons also makes it more playable. 3 days on, and many hours of playing later i still like it ;)

should i get it then? not sure....... i am still waiting for links and worms! they look better!

Midnight, i know how to change weapon ingame, my question was - how do you choose what weapons you start with on a level? I only get like 7 - 8 different weapons no matter how rich i choose to be...

I think its a random selection based on your wealth...
