Guest Bazz Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 MoFLeZ, in case you didn't know Orange have a huge list of sites on the SPV portal: http://spv.orange-today.co.uk/directory/
Guest Mr B Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Well, I'm using GPRS for the BT site, and it works fine. Yell is working fine for me to. If they don't work, just go to the root site (i.e. mobile.yell.com) and work your way to the search - I bookmark there so I don't have to hit the Home Page every time.Well, I'm using GPRS for the BT site, and it works fine. Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 MoFLeZ, in case you didn't know Orange have a huge list of sites on the SPV portal:http://spv.orange-today.co.uk/directory/ Oh nice! Geeze now how come I didn't know that ... probably cause I think Orange is the devil!!! - and never really checked out what their portal offers. Thx mate!
Guest Bazz Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 I'm really impressed with their portal, particularly for sports scores and cinema listings (lists all my local cinemas films on one page - even though they are for different cinema chains). I even find I use it on my PC. Have a play around and you'll see it's quite nice - especially cause it's specially designed for the SPV. My one gripe (which I've mentioned here before), is that half of it uses cookies and half (the news site) uses sign-in. Use one or the other would you! And although it automatically signs you in to view news, changing your news preferences requires you to enter your username and password and there's no "remember username and password" option. You could argue it's for security reasons, but it's only a news site and it's a pain in the butt entering usernames and passwords on the SPV, especially when it isn't really necessary... Barry
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Aahhh they need to do a Danish Cinema listing *nod self*! I would totally use that!! Although I did find one for movies on TV - it's HUGE to load (well not HUGE .. but around 90kb) which is just a wee bit too much when you pay pr MB *nod self*
Guest Bazz Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Ahh, sorry never noticed you were in Denmark - it is very UK orientated. We UK people also have the unlimited GPRS bundle (well, for the moment) so don't worry too much about page sizes :-) Perhaps Orange Denmark will bring a similar site out soon - you should ask them. Another point is that you have to be an Orange Customer to use the personal news (they text your password to your mobile). But that's fair enough and cause I am I'm not complaining!
Guest youngerpants Posted April 29, 2003 Report Posted April 29, 2003 Wow, orange portal is actually quite usefull...and to think that I have never clicked on one of the official links before  My favorites folder is growing nicely. Guest youngerpants Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 OK, in case anyone is interested, here is a folder with some of the more usefull sites mentioned (and I have deliberatly left out the London-centric sites because I'm northern and proud) Just dump 'em in IPSMWindowsFavorites if anyone has any more, please post them or IM them, i plan on actually testing them and listing them on an SPV friendly links page once I have something "definitive" Thaks to all who submittedFaves.zip

Guest fraser Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Good idea on the zip file, agreed that there should be a website for this sort of thing. Saying that, there are already a couple of protals that essentially do the same thing, e.g. Webinspire
