The limited physics are still in the promo videos from this years E3 too.  So I'm pretty sure that they'll be in the final build.

True, missed that.

Tim Willits: Our focus hasn't changed--we're putting all our resources into developing an unbelievable single-player experience. We will, however, include a multiplayer component that includes game types like deathmatch and last man standing. There is nothing more visceral than competing against another human player, particularly in a first-person game. However, this experience is going to be very different from something like Quake III Arena. Doom III multiplayer is incredibly intense, and the light and shadows play a much bigger role in the gameplay. Never before in a multiplayer game have players had to worry about their shadow and whether or not it has revealed their position, or been able to shoot out lights so they can hide in the darkness. This alone adds a level of reality, depth, and atmosphere that is again going to redefine expectations about how a multiplayer game should look and feel.

Yeh - it'll probally end up in there.

Or the code will remain but won't be officially implemented.

Then some clever person will patch it in a week.

And we'll all be happy fraggers.

Yeh, what they say is they don't have time to make maps. This is kind of a hint that moders are going to have a hard time with the DOOM III tools!!! I think they might have shot themselfes in the foot with this one, and im sure there not too fused on the sales of DOOM III as they have always made there cash of the Engine, not the software.

If i had to put money on it i say Half Life 2 is going to wipe the floor with it, it's engine (Source) is built WITH moders in mind, not dispite them. And im sure the multiplayer will be great! :)

But even the mighty FX 5900 Ultra starts to slip once you crank up the detail and AA / AF settings, which implies that come launch day there may be a lot of very unhappy gamers yammering away in various forums as their once-mighty video cards choke and die on D3's new engine. Based on what we've seen I'm not even sure if a GeForce4 Ti 4600 will pack much of a punch when push comes to shove. In fact, you might not want to own any video card at all that isn't fully DX9 compatible. Is this bad? Not really in the sense that people want to see something really spectacular from Doom 3—but it does show the danger of future-casting. Reviewers have tilted their video card recommendations for years over Doom 3, its been breathlessly discussed at every new product launch, and even Carmack himself said not to buy a GF 4 MX to play it. Based on available information, however, you might not have wanted to buy a Radeon 8500 either. Or a GeForce4 Ti card. Or anything below a Radeon 9800 Pro.
