I have noticed a post about a bluetooth adapter that uses a 2.5mm headset jack.

this got me thinking...

Does anyone know if car handsfree kits are available that connect in this way.

I guess that you would need a power source for the speaker, but this could even be battery powered.

Any thoughts/suggestions as to whether this is already available.

As to charging the phone, the connector on the bottom is still accessible so I could use my cigarrette charger.

Have a look on www.coolsmartphone.com m8 there is a Car-Kit up-coming :)

As for car charging the phone, i've got a Sync & charge cable that comes with a adapter that plugs into the car lighter ;)

i use that in connection with a universal phone holder and the Speaker phone on the SPV! Bingo instant Car-kit :D

I've found that a universal mobile phone holder located near to me and the steering whell and using the built in speakerphone function allows a basic handsfree operation.

It's not perfect but with the volume up and with you speaking up a little it does the job

Another cheap solution is available from Maplin Electronics. They sell these universal car kits which use the cassette port on your car stereo to amplify the sound from your phone. A built-in microphone is also supplied. I've bought one for about a fiver and it works fine with my SPV. ;)
