@vctor just read my post at the top of this page...

btw, its not "SMS counter" ...... its "SMS character counter"...where you can monitor your message composition if it has the reached the allowed 160 characters per sms

Here is how you can get the SMS char counter to work.

1. No counter - When you reply to a message.

2. No counter - When you initiate a new message from the Inbox by pressing the actio button on the To Field.

3. With counter - When you manually enter a number into the To field.

4. With counter - When you reply to a number not in the contacts directory.

5. With counter - if you enter Contacts first and select the number that is labeled for SMS.

you can also get the sms character counter when you reply to a message OR compose a new message.

after you hit "reply", or after filling up the "TO" field from your Contacts, just type any single number/digit in the "CC" filed, then delete it, then start writing the message....you can see you have now the sms character counter at the top-left corner of the screen

cheers...

It's 10MB... your email won't be able to handle it.

I don't know if this could be called a trick:

I was upgrading my sister's SAP ... we got to bootloader mode (the tri-color "Canary" screen which those with SIM-unlocked phones know by now).  It just stuck in there for 20 minutes ... nothing happening.

So, with fingers crossed, we tried turning off the celfone and disconnecting it from the USB cable. It wouldn't turn off with the power button ... so we had no choice but to take off the battery and wait for 30 seconds... When we powered it up ... we still had the tri-color screen.

We called *888 ... we were told to go to the Wireless Center ... uh-oh

Hoping against hope ... we tried re-connecting the phone to the PC ... ActiveSync won't work ... still we re-started the upgrade program ...

and waited ...

ALAS! ... it worked seamlessly up to the finish ...

Then I tried it on my own phone ... same scenario ... "hanging" at the tri-color screen ...

To make the long story short ... I just did what I did with mhy sister's phone

WOW! Seamless upgrade up to finish ...

BUT ... I misplaced the Globe SIM I borrowed ... Is my phone still open? ... we'll find out tomorrow . . .

@ jabez:

i got the same problem here, the phone was unlocked and when i'm trying to upgrade still hangs in 3 color mode and still nothing happen even i restarted the phone and wait for long minutes b4 getting back to power still problem occurs on 3 color mode. can u share your solutions mate?

when stuck at the Canary tri-color, try to press and hold again the record button and then press the power button...that would restart your phone.

actually pressing the action button takes a lot of practice...right timing so you get to the menu and the rest of the unlocking procedure. the reason why you get to the canary tri-color is because when you press the action button, it didnt work...so just try and try again

no need to hold the record button when exiting from canary screen. just press and hold the power button to initiate normal bootup.

Guys....more importantly.....the ROM upgrade should have allowed two important features....

Last time I had a discussion with SMART, an upgrade was supposed to be on the works to extend battery life and to enhance the RF capabilities of your Smartphone.

It might be only me but the max number of hours I can keep my phone working before it runs out of power is 14 hrs, and I can drain it as fast as 8 hrs.

yup.

after upgrading to ROM 137, my signal reception is better. i now get 4 bars most of the time compared to 2-3 bars on ROM 136.

as for the battery life, i see no difference.

Can't someone post a link that is working so that we can take the upgrade too?

Or maybe upload it in another site and tell us the link.............

I suggest you ask Paul[MVP] if he can host it for you, I don't know if he is legally allowed to, but a PM to him might help.

The ROM update that we have is for the SMART Amazing Phone here in the Philippines. I don't know if it can be used for SPVs all around the world.
