Guest rikmartin Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I had to change access point to Orange internet, however I have had no problems with buffering, each clip plays fine and honestly very impressed,,, it wont let me send feedback though. The sound is the only bad thing,,, its a bit poor Thanks
Guest ssj_kakarot Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 ha to clips up to now not to nice to view with it buffering every few sec's, also i had a txt that said i will recieve a new txt to set the free grps, am i right in thinking the pack gives all prs like msn, and ie for free also, or is it just orange local content? woudlnt like to be gettin a huge bill in like :)
Guest paulcaley Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Viewed my first clips this evening, after 10 minutes of connection problems, a call to CS sorted this out. Some of the sound is poor. Hopefully, being the begining of the trial it might get better!!
Guest gissing Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Finally got mine sorted -- even though I selected Orange Internet about 10 times, it kept defaulting to Orange GPRS. Strangely, it suddenly started working even though doing the same thing before didnt make it work. Seems the Oplayer settings arent saved properly. Shocking really. I'm a software tester by day, and I wouldnt stand for this. However, my video hasnt buffered up once, and its very good quality really.Makes 3G look silly.
Guest Hax Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Urrrmmmm - hate to sound think, but where exactly are you guys changing these settings? I go to the "Data Connections" menu but only get the options of Automatic, Orange CSD WAP, Orange WAP and Orange GPRS. No mention of "Orange Internet" that you guys say you have above. Are you all using SPV's or is this a 7650 option? Any help much appreciated, Thanks in advance, Hax
Guest spiderboy Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 I phoned Orange 360 last night (The dedicated support team for the video trials) and informed them about this buffer problem with the win media player. After some knowladgebase look ups she came back and said it was a known problem and that they had a few calls about it already. I informed her that this has only been since the update and that before that it was fine, so has to be a software bug or problem. More lookups, talk to others and then came back and said she will log it with trial support as well as Orange support and that this problem will probably only be fixed in the future with updates, it seems the buffer in media player is set to small (surprise, surprise). So I have two questions, 1) is there another media player that can be used and set as your default player for these video and sound clips, 2) has anyone seen any buffer setting in the registry or elsewhere or are those settings embedded in the software. :?:
Guest Vector Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 I will have a look in the registry  .
Guest Vector Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 OK, i have found a setting to change the streaming buffer setting. The value is currently on 3. Anyone want to try changing it ? it is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -->Software--> Microsoft -->windows media player 8-->streaming -->streaming buffer. Good luck
Guest lycrawearer Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Gotta say (so far) that I'm impressed with the quality of the clips. As previous posters have said the sound is not that good - very 'robotic' almost ... but the streaming video works a treat on the supplied 7650 ! Only had 1 'buffering' problem so far, and that's watching all the links sent via SMS, and also browsing the list available ! Quality is also excellent, the 7650 handles it very well indeed ... Also echoing a previous poster, I'm well surpised at the 7650 ! It really is a nice phone (maybe a little on the large side), but when the keypad is closed, it is quite compact (and the camera's lens is protected quite well) Thanks Orange ! lycrawearer
Guest paulcaley Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 I called 360 after having problems connecting to the OPlayer, the woman on the end of the phone asked me to change the Access Point Name on the Orange GPRS to orangeinternet. Now when I try to access Service to get to any WAP sites using the GPRS, it sits there lemon like for a while then says the WAP connection is not available. I can access the clips via the Oplayer. The only was I can access the site is by using the default mode, which is using GSM. Anyone else having this problem?
Guest spiderboy Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Davidrm any idea what value it should be set too in the registry? Does the values have to corrospond with a certain setting or is it just random value selecting?
Guest The_Brickster Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Be careful, any streaming done via wap will not be covered by orange, they will only give you GPRS data free.
Guest paulcaley Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 The Oplayer using the GPRS to stream, but the WAP browsing only uses GSM
Guest Vector Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Anybody have any idea about changing the reg value i mentioned on page 4 of this topic :?:
Guest The_Brickster Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 The Oplayer using the GPRS to stream, but the WAP browsing only uses GSM Sometimes Oplayer is incorrectly configured
Guest MARKUKCOUK Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 whats the oplayer and where can i get it? im using windows media player for the trial, and its crap!
Guest mattbunce Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 oplayer is the application pre-installed by orange on the 7650s sent out for the trial. I dont think it is avalible for the spv. Using another player on the SPV is not recommended for the trial as anything but oplayer & media player is not support by orange.
Guest fraser Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 There is an Orange "Emblaze" player for the SPV, Monolitix has it on it's web site. I've never managed to play a clip in it though...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 Emblaze plays mpeg only apparently...Maybe tonight i'll get round to updating my site with screenshots...
Guest Hax Posted March 26, 2003 Report Posted March 26, 2003 I tried fiddling with the registry values in the key suggested by Davidrm - but that had no effect on the speed of the GPRS connection - tried setting it to 0,1,2,3,4,5,10,50 and finally 4294967296 Just to throw another registry key into the melting pot, I've just stumbled upon this one: HKEY_CURRENT_USERCommRasBookOrange GPRS Now as I suspect that the problem is most likely with O's conifguration of the GPRS connection and not with MS's media player, this might be a better place to start fiddling. Only problem is, the only two number there that look like they might need changing are *very* big. Anyone brave enough to start fiddling? Hax
