Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 At the moment Java is not supported on the Smartphone. Also from what I gather from other posts is that Java is power hungry, so not suited for the phone.
Guest midnight Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 java, pfff, java sucks, and we cant use it, so end of conversation on that one
Guest Richie M Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 MMMMMMOOOOOOOONNNNN PPPPPPAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL
Guest Croccy22 Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Dont' worry Richie, moon patrol is not forgotten  Matt
Guest XGEOX Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Sorry mate you're too young to remember Marble madness? Same type of game. damn - i knew someone was gonna be able to come up with something like that... :D ...i've heard of marble madness but thought it was something completely different. oh well, i give up - are there any original games anymore? ...i know of '1942' (midway?) - and games like that would be nicely suited to the spv. what about multiplayer gaming? - it would be nice to see games which can be played phone-to-phone - either at close range or over great distances... but i have no idea how that would be done.
Guest midnight Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 dont be sad theres no original games anymore  it just makes it more of a challenge for us developers to improve game concepts that already exist. Oh, and there is room for original games to some degree, but are very rare. as for 1942, i have an idea for a new shooter enhancing the idea of 1942 (in fact i have 2 ideas, but one is a little more complex than the other, and i'm currently working on at least 3 games at the moment anyway hehe), as soon as i have something to show i'll post on modaco. multiplayer is a tricky one, yes, its possible, main problem is the cost of gprs unfortunately. rocket elite has a multiplayer mode.
Guest XGEOX Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 fair enough - i suppose using IR instead of gprs might be possible - but then you've got to line the phones up and stay quite close.. ..probably not practical   cant wait to see these new games..
Guest amo Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 and slow for anything other than tic tac toe or other turn based games generally
Guest madu Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Erm... a little off topic here: Now, I know many are dieing to ask you mate, so I'll take my chances: XGEOX: What's the deal with the avatar? 8)
Guest XGEOX Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 lol - dunno actually - i had a webcam set up a while back but nvr updated it, and since i didnt have an avatar to hand when i signed up to modaco, i used the last pic it took.... changed it now anyway
Guest noeldillabough Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I'd have to say a little of both, ie classics and new. The most important thing to remember is to write the game FOR the phone...don't simply port it over. Think of the capabilities, the keys, joystick, softbuttons etc and make sure the controls are simple and intuitive. As said before the best games are crap without good controls. Games I would like to see (for nostalgia reasons): MULE, River Raid, Pitfall, 1942. I am going to check out AIM's new Chopper Command port when it comes out (loved that game). I'm also a sucker for a good puzzle as well as cards/board games especially if multiplayer. Empire (persistant online version with orders every x hours) would be cool too.
Guest p_boy Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 where do you get free good 1uality games (except the games found on coolsmartphone)Fullversion (not trial or demo)???
Guest Johnnyjohn Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 definitely new games - for all the reasons you clever people have stated! Having said that tho - STUNT CAR RACER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please?
