Guest mar9118 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Hey guys! Try this: Create a text file in your PC using notepad writing down all the words that T9 does not know even accented words like ö, é, ä, etc. (say a German name) then copy the text file to your My Documents folder in the Smartphone and you will have all the new words added to the dictionary. How the Smartphone does it? I don't know but it worked!..... :)
Guest mar9118 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Sorry, one thing I forgot...you have to have notepad installed on your Smartphone and the said text file opened to have it work....
Guest mrming Posted October 6, 2003 Report Posted October 6, 2003 Thanks mar9118! That worked a treat for me - I wasn't aware you get Notepad for the Smartphone either so double bonus! ;)

Guest laze Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 well, i was discussing the nokia 6600 with my friend via sms, so now when i want to type words like 'on' or 'no', 6600 keeps appearing, which is really annoying. is there an option like those found on the t610, where you can edit/delete new words? thanks

Guest vanasselt Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 hey.. i jus recently got a smartphone.. i m having problems wit t9.. i can never get into the t9 mode.. i dont knw wht cud b the prob..i always have to type msgs in the multipress mode..cud anyone help me out? ive got a i-mate smartphone. thanx I think I was struggling with the same problem on my i-mate2. The manual says to hold * to switch to T9 but this just results in a menu with 1 123 2 ABC 3 Symbols 4 English 5 Languages Select #4 and this will switch you into T9 mode. #2 switches you back
Guest yusuf7777 Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 hi.. i dont even get a menu.. when i press * i can just switch between 123 and abc nothing else... do i need to do some regional settings or somthing? my phone has arabic too (i live in dubai and got my phone frm here)..but my current settings are: language : English (no Arabic support) locale : english (united states)
Guest vanasselt Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Posted from my SmartPhone! Press and hold the * for menu
Guest Blakey Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Okay, I must be stupid. I can't get this to work. I'm just trying to add "Blakey" to this draft message. I've added that happily. However I can't get this to be accepted by T9. I can't get the draft document to appear read - if that matters - it's permanently in "bold" in my drafts folder. I'm on E200 with the new ROM. Is this why it's not working? Thanks Blakey
Guest tsutton Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Hi This also works with SmartPhone Notes, I just keep all the words in a note in MS Outlook, keep it Sync'd and edit a note on the phone to get all words in to the dictionary. I couldn't get ActiveSync to sync Notes as it is not listed. How do I do it? Thanks.
Guest tsutton Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Sorry, one thing I forgot...you have to have notepad installed on your Smartphone and the said text file opened to have it work.... I tried doing your trick using the Orneta Notepad 2003 to open the file full of words. It didn't get used.Do I have to use specified Notepad application? If so, which one?

Guest konker Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Further to the original topic of the thread, I discovered one does not have to go through the trouble of setting up Outlook mail sync each time a backup is needed. I'm using SmartPhone Studio to manage my SMSs without having to launch Outlook. It also allows me to backup my Phone & SIM contacts & send/receive SMSs from my PC/laptop as long as it's connected via USB cable. I just create the Draft copy & postphone the message for delivery. Open it in SMS>Draft folder & see the effects that rest have been talking about. Cheers!
