Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 I didn't even get started on my older, lesser devices, like my 6310i that is provided my employer... (yuk!) P
Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Maybe we need a new topic - what's in your gadget graveyard?
Guest chickster Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Let's not forget people, that this phone (as good or bad as it is) went on sale for only £99. Now correct me if i'm wrong but for £99 you get one hell of a package and with a bit of tweaking, there are no problems with it at all. Compare that to £350 odd for a P800 and I think I rest my case!!! :) ;) :D
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 I got my one foe £20 back in December, wonderfull value for money. Much better than a Nokia or p800. The thing a lot of people seem to forget when they slate the SPV (and similar) is that it's a PHONE! The Smartphone platform is designed to make phone calls as it's primary function. All of the extra functions, Outlook/DivX/GunBoy/MP3/Internet Access, are secondary functions. If you want a portable device that functions as a PC, the PocketPC platform is the way to go, that's what it's been designed to do! Also the Smartphone platform is developing all the time, I don't think a week goes by without some usefull new app appears on MoDaCo.
Guest TANKERx Posted July 21, 2003 Report Posted July 21, 2003 Unfortunately, for all the things I use my SPV, the phone functions are what it does worse than any thing else. Great multimedia, good games and adequate PIM, but as for actually communicating, I've lost too many text messages, e-mails and calls for me to consider it reliable. So if it's primarily a phone, it's primarily not very good. But for me, it's primarily a pirtable multimedia tool, and that's not so bad.
