Guest Terwin Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 I've tried Pocket TV Pro on unlocked Mio 8380 - everything worked without a problem Is your Mio 8380 app unlocked? If not, which one do you have? CECT, Synnex or Orange HK? I can't get it installed on mine.
Guest Terwin Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Did you buy the Mio 8380 unlocked or did you unlock it yourself? Please write up instructions on how to unlock if you did unlock on your own. I know the mxip_oem_3.provxml is the file I need to edit the 4102 value from 0 to 1.
Guest victor_RUS Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 We are Mitac partners, so after receiving locked MIOs, we unlock them using tools provided by Mitac, we signed NDA with them.
Guest Terwin Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 I find it disappointing that all SPVs can be unlocked without issue and Mitac has an app to unlock and they put it under NDA. How does one become a Mitac partner?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Bear in mind up until a few months ago, we were in eactly the same situation with the SPV's :)
Guest deiwise Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 I'm going to HK in October/November - will the Mitac have been released here by then? (here=UK)
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 It will have Smartphone 2003, correct ? (that's what this smartphonethoughts article says)
Guest Terwin Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Current shipping Mio 8380 are all Smartphone 2002.
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Current shipping Mio 8380 are all Smartphone 2002. Ah, ok. But they have an Xscale processor, correct ?
Guest djdurance Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Is the 8380 upgradable to the new 2003?
Guest wu_yang Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 [EDIT: Oops, sorry wu_yang, accidentally edited your post! SORRY!] There are rumors that MiTAC Mio 8390, the next version of the MiTAC Mio 8380, will be lighter and thinner with a higher resolution camera and Smartphone 2003 , will be released in September.
Guest deiwise Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Isn't that when the 8380 is being released though?
Guest victornikela Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Wow. Any more pics of the 8390? It basically makes the Mio perfect in every way (the 8380's size is the only downside to that phone).
Guest Brody Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I would still like to see a flash for the camera...
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Original hi res pic, cheers wu_yang!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 I think they both look OK ;-) P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 And if anyone is willing to provide me with a sample model of each, i'd be happy to do a comparison review for the site :)
Guest pat2000 Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 I am regret that I just brought Mio 8380. Fortunately that it can be upgraded to application unlocked according to some taiwan's froum.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 Does the smaller size mean the screen is smaller? I was under the impression that the mitac's screen was somewhat larger than the SPVs.
Guest AngelOfRage Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Mitac 8380's are now being sold on ebay for £375 buy it now.
Guest Terwin Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Mitac 8380's are now being sold on ebay for £375 buy it now. Sounds like a major scam imho...
Guest Terwin Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 I am regret that I just brought Mio 8380. Fortunately that it can be upgraded to application unlocked according to some taiwan's froum. I wouldn't regret buying an 8380 any. You have hardware 8380 in hand .vs merely upcoming 8390 rumors 1-2 months down the road. I've heard no concrete specs on the 8390 and can only assume that it's just a repackaged 8380. I know the camera looks the same. What forum shows how to application unlock? Send me a message so I can check it out and post the instructions here...or you could always post them :)
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 The only problem right now with the Mio is that, for some yet unknown reason, there are some applications that you cannot install even though they are correctly signed with a Smartphone certificate. If anyone here (I mean, developers or MS people) has some new information about this issue, please post it here.
