Guest Maverick Posted July 25, 2003 Report Posted July 25, 2003 Since the MMC/SD Card is a relatively new type of storage media, several companies have been able to perfect the precision of read/write through various types of gadges (i.e., PDAs, Pocket PCs, DigiCams, SmartPhones). It is equally important that you check what brand you're getting. I know that there are several GENERIC ones in the market. When I say generic, this would be the typically "unknown" branded ones. Companies like LEXAR, INFINEON, to name a few, are very reliable when it comes to the MMC/SD storage media. I wouldn't bet on SanDisk, or even RiData at this point. Hope this helps. Strange.. Sandisk is supposed to be one of the founder organisation of the the SD card consortium.

Yep, along with Matsushita Electronic (Panasonic) and Toshiba, SanDisk developed the SD card format technology. Plus SanDisk is one of the world leaders in storage card technology.
