Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Better that the one that is on the E-100 :) much better saying that I have not given it time to test the battery life but having IA album on rom is a nice touch even though I already own it :o
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I might have to put this on my phone! Im nervous, as my phone is fine and I am blatently just being greedy. I also go to denmark on thurs and would like my phone to work no worries. Is it as simple to do as with the uk update? are there any little tricks I have to do once it is on my SPV? Is it decerted? I dont mean to pester but this is quite nerve racking
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I just downloaded and ran the update. Also as I mentioned above if you do a Hard Reset you get all the features with the update. At the the end of the day ask yourself if you are happy with your phone the way it is?
Guest Tocken Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Is it true or just bull that if you use the Qtek update on a simlocked Orange SPV E100 the phone will be unlocked?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Did a hard reset on my phone .. ran the qtek update .. no problems whatsoever ... it's not sim-locked. And it comes software-unlocked .. so no hassle with OTA. First impressions are really good .. it runs really smooth in the menus .. but it IS totally Fresh .. so that might have something to do with it.
Guest nikjensie Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Okay, so has anyone with an actual Qtek7070 made the update?? Cause I don't know if it's worth making the update since I have a Qtek 7070 bought about a month ago, what would differences be if any??? Nik
Guest dinoalbert Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 has anyone tried upgrading a "sim-locked" phone to this new Qtek rom.... did it unlock the phone after the upgrade? thanks...
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I just tried to install this and it said that i did not have a valid device number or something!?! Any ideas?
Guest beersoft Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Hi, I uan the update and it was fine, decided to downgrade bac to ouk 1.3.5 and buggered the phone, it now gets no service. Orange are sending a replacement SPV tommrow.
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I just tried to install this and it said that i did not have a valid device number or something!?! Any ideas? Hmmm are you running the update with your phone in canary mode??
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I have it installed on my SPV nowthanks for the tip about the canary screen. Unfortunately I have now got no contacts as i didnt remeber to sync with outlook b4 changing the rom  I have backed up my old ipsm would that back up contain my numbers? If so, is there an easier way to get the contacts than reverting back and syncing with outlook. Then installing all over again?
Guest neilfenstein Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 Oh has any body noticed that the T9 is not strictly english? Does any one know a remedy for this? This has all transpired to be a bit of a balls up on my behalf.
Guest Twixie Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I get this error message when trying to update : http://www.thefatman.dk/pub/files/untitled.JPG What does it mean, and how do i solve it?
Guest gregbarton Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 when i try installin the update from the canary screen it just freezes wen its checking smartphone and screen on phone just is white
Guest martin Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 I get this error message when trying to update :I also got a ROM error message when trying to update the SPV while it was booted up but running the update from the canary screen gave no problems. I did have slight different error message that you though. when i try installin the update from the canary screen it just freezes wen its checking smartphone and screen on phone just is white I remember seeing the white screen but I can't remember at what point. Anyway, I think I left it alone and it carried on after a while.
Guest gregbarton Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 how long is a while cos i left it like that for at least 20mins until i came to conclusion it has crashed sum how!!
Guest martin Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 how long is a while cos i left it like that for at least 20mins until i came to conclusion it has crashed sum how!! The white screen only comes up for a very short time and its just that I remember seeing it. It sounds like your phone has got stuck then :) Did your white screen occur before or after the software update to ROM ?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 The white screen normally appears at the beginning of the update when it just about to start eerasing the old ROM image. Twixie no need to cross post :)
Guest gregbarton Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 its before it starts the rom update it just stops wiv the white screen on the phone and the checking information on the smartphone popup
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 OMG  IT IS true, ringtones on the storage card :) :o :P :( And ALSO BACKGROUND IMAGES yes I know I'm shouting      :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Guest vijay555 Posted August 10, 2003 Report Posted August 10, 2003 anyone know how to fix the english t9, because the t9 util doesn't appear to work, modaco doesn't like it when i search for "t9", and i quite like this update, but for the t9. Oh, and i think somehow they managed to do something miraculous or worrying with the battery life - about 12 hours of runtime and haven't lost a battery bar - still on 4 bars. Hmm, VERY suspicious. Anyone else have anything similar? V
Guest Simon Desser Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 I just put this ROM on my SPV, but did a hard reset first. I then put a card in with a back up of my IPSM (made using USBTerm) and there was then an option to "Load IPSM" :) (as well as save IPSM) I restored my IPSM and it worked fine, however, it's like the "Smart" update, whereby unless you do a hard reset, you can't create a new SMS :o so loading a backed up IPSM onto this ROM is no good (unless of course you re-install everything and make a fresh back up)
Guest Swift_gti Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 Whats the deal with english t9 "not strictly working" then ? I can't decide whether to install this or not. Is there any way of backing up all of the current stuff on the phone so I can go back to that if it doesn't work properly?
Guest GNU Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 As I said in the first post, this update comes with Swedish T9. The fact that the dll file is called English doesn't change that. Eg. type Smörgås with T9 activated :)
Guest vijay555 Posted August 11, 2003 Report Posted August 11, 2003 aaah, that explains a lot! Definately typing in Smörgås. Swift_gti - you can do a Full Backup of your phone with bootloader 0.93, and then always go back to it. Highly recommended. HOWEVER - i'm worried about people bandying around these updates. I've got e100 with 1.5; i decided to downgrade because of poor battery life; i tried to install it, got a stuck sunset screen, and have now spent some 2 days attempting to get it back to 1.35/1.5. My phone refuses to take an orange update anymore, or anything below 1.5; it hangs and won't boot. So, i'd warn, DO A FULL BACKUP before upgrading. don't play with upgrades unless you have. But, it must be said: i'm getting worryingly great battery life with QTEK compared to e100/1.5. i'm just wondering if the bloody thing is switched on! V
