more than likely!!! you clicked on the download and did OPEN instead of save as...????

when you do open it saves it in the cache for a small period some times once you download it gets deleted straight away but winzip opens with out any information....

if you download with save as then the file wont delete from the cache (temporary internet files)

its nothing to do with a firewall because a firewall either blocks or allows a download.. it doesn't delete any files.....

Downloading certain zips on this site cannot be done (I end up with the problem reported above) unless I shutdown my

Norton firewall, so it is to do with the firewall.

I think I've been downloading long enough to not choose OPEN and

make that sort of mistake :roll:

oops, i forgot to mention that at first and after uploading the video from mio to my pc it didn't work i had to instal the plug-in from CD #2 that comes with the mio 8380 so i can see the video.

one cd is for outlook 2000 and activesync and the second cd include some softwares for the mio 8380.

I clicked the file and said SAVE....it seems to be the firewall.

EDIT: I changes the above to read correctly....typed it wrong the first time.

Think the Mio looks like a better phone than the P800, though they're both very desirable phones. I think the problem with the P800 is that you can't operate a touch-screen with one hand.

Um, is that reecided in divx, or just changed file header? When I run it, it has the divx logo at the bottom right. I think it's iso mpeg4 format. What header code do I change to make it that?

Cd 1 is Outlook 2000 SR-1 and Active Sync 3.6.

Cd2 is all the Mio 8380 apps. The same stuff that is running around the forums for the java installers Mitac pulled from their website.

look on yahoo for a program called AviC (FourCC changer)

it comes with the Xvid Codec package...

I used it to change the Avi file produced by the mitac from DMK2 to DIVX

its not Mpeg because i've tried all the following headers XVID, DIVX, DIV3, DIV4, MP43, MP42.. and the only one that works is DIVX

About the video quality on the Mio 8380. I've experimented and the video quality is very noisy if you use the digital zoom. My ideal settings to make a nice clean video with the phone is to zoom all the way out and set the brightness control at 30% in settings. Digital zoom is really ugly compared to optical zoom because the camera has to res up the picture, losing detail. Looks ok in both 176x144 or 320x240 with either 50 Hz or 60 Hz settings.

It's not MS MPEG 4, it's ISO MPEG 4 I think. Manual directly states the phone uses ISO MPEG 4.

Oops, misread the manual. MS MPEG 4 and ISO MPEG 4 is Windows Media Player not VideoPlayer.

Ya, the cd 2 installer installs the codec.
