Guest mcwarre Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 If you're that unhappy about the features that have been fixed, firstly don't update your phone and secondly, we won't give you a tip off next time ;p Here here!! :) :o
Guest skimask Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 only reason you've been given the upgrade to test is cos you're a forum moderator..surely you should be encouraging people to air their views?Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest adicken Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Is this update for the SPV or E100 or both? Also, will it screw with the decertification of the phone and if so can it still be decrtified? :?
Guest Brody Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 The update'll be for both the SPV and e100 and shouldn't stop you decertifying your phone. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mwille Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Let me add a beginners question here if I may :) I have a Dutch SPV with a Dutch OS... Although I like my language I kinda want my pc's and gadgets to be in English 8) Surely I wil be able to use this rom update without danger when it is released ? Sure hope so !
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Just noticed I can switch between lines by holding down hash in the new update too! :-) P Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mcwarre Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 "]Just noticed I can switch between lines by holding down hash in the new update too! :-) P Posted from my SmartPhone! Mmmm, Niicceeee. No more lengthy reboots to do this. Great, really great. :) :o
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Please explain what pressing hash does? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Brody Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 It changes from Line 1 to Line 2 by the sounds of it. This is only of use if you have two phone numbers set up on the one sim (ie one personal, one business)
Guest Geren Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 How about sending SMS to groups or categories?
Guest niska Posted August 18, 2003 Report Posted August 18, 2003 Sorry David...Just my opinion and Im entitled to it. The fact that Orange can't tell us themselves their working on an update is ridiculous, I simply dont understand why there is such a need for secrecy. (And personally - im not too fussed about or in great need of an update) Hi amo .. I totally agree with you. I'm happy 'bout the news, but still.. it IS just a phone update.... In my opinion, both Microsoft and Orange are not doing enough for the SPV owners. /johnny "...you can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus..."
Guest Rob.P Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 [offtopic] ]Just noticed I can switch between lines by holding down hash in the new update too! Nothing to do with cocaine then :o :) [/offtopic] Don't suppose there is any idea of a sheduled release date, even a penciled in one :?:
Guest hellboundpeanut Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Any idea on when the new update will be graced upon us? been in a box for a few weeks so ..well .. i took a shower and missed all the action.. HbP
Guest Uzay Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Sorry David...Just my opinion and Im entitled to it. The fact that Orange can't tell us themselves their working on an update is ridiculous, I simply dont understand why there is such a need for secrecy. (And personally - im not too fussed about or in great need of an update) well next time we won't tell you anything... aight ;-)
Guest Uzay Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Let me add a beginners question here if I may  :)  I have a Dutch SPV with a Dutch OS... Although I like my language I kinda want my pc's and gadgets to be in English  8)  Surely I wil be able to use this rom update without danger when it is released ? Sure hope so ! yeaaah wel it's a newbie question, indeed, check out your settings on your phone, and you will find other languages for your smartphone, kewl eeh !! ps: smartphone2002 is in englisch by default, other languages are just translations. so yeaah, you can use this update ....
Guest nixy Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Paul. You seem like a half decent human being from your posts....WHEN IS THE UPDATE AVAILABLE TO THE REST OF US!!!!! :x Its very nice hearing little snippets of info here and there but like most of the others on here it would be very nice to find some up to date info on this update that we take your word is being tested?
Guest Will Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Paul is currently away on a well deserved break. I will confirm we ARE testing (to destruction with hard resets and multiple previous OS version upgrade path problems in my case!!) the new proposed update. When will it be out??? When orange decide it's ready for general release I imagine. Modaco WILL ensure you the forum members are the first to know when we have information on a release... But we cannot tell you what we DO NOT KNOW.... well we could make it up i guess?? Please don't panic tho, i've been using the new and older updates on 2 phones, and personally am just as happy using either, the tweaks and added bits are nice, but the older update works just fine too. Will
Guest Rob.P Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 [offtopic] Will is that the orginal lyrics you have there in your signature? If so good man :) [/offtopic]
Guest morpheus2702 Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 [off topic] The Red Hand Gang with James Bond Jnr the third was much better. :)
Guest adverse camber Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 I was wondering whether any of these bugs/usability issues have been addressed in the update. When you boot the phone up and enter your sim pin and go into programs (to launch media player or gameboy emulator for example) it keeps kicks you back to the home screen twice. Once when it goes to searching, and once when it connects to orange. Is this fixed by any chance (or is your phone always on?). What about the LOUD beeps that deafen you when you dial an incorrect number. Please tell me they've got rid of those. Lastly, if you're in a call and change the volume it won't accept standard number key presses until you've pressed the 'done' softkey. Priority should be on the current call: (one thing I miss about my old nokia). Also shortcuts: if you launch something that's on the sim card (such as the taskmanager) by holding down a key it first goes to the contact filter screen as it would when dialling, and then launches the app. When you quit the app it goes back to the contact screen, not the home page.
Guest neillarkin Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 where do u get the update to download from please 8)
Guest zenabi Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 where do u get the update to download from please 8) When it's released it'll be available from the Orange website. You can be sure that the web address will be posted here as soon as the update is available to the public.
Guest Goutetsuu Posted August 21, 2003 Report Posted August 21, 2003 while orange are working on this update, is it possbile for them to make the new update show gifs that animate on the homescreens and in PIE?
Guest nixy Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 http://www.qtek.nu/files/Qtek150.zip I have updated my E100 with the above rom update. It seems to be fine after two weeks testing. I didnt want to do it at first as its not recomended. I have found battery life has improved as has overall stability. I no longer have to unlock the phone to install new software everytime after a hard reset which is wonderful as it is now totally unlocked. The phone is so much more stable too. It rocks!"!"! To top it all off I can now use any SIM too!!!! It is now network unlocked. The only downside which I personally dont give a **** about is that T9 is nolonger in English. But I never used it anyway. Good Luck if you too try this. I will say however that this is only my own personal experience and I can only speak for that alone. :)
