It's a very worthwhile update...

Be warned, it erases your IPSM on install...

while orange are working on this update, is it possbile for them to make the new update show gifs that animate on the homescreens and in PIE?

I doubt very much that you'll see that.

Anim GIFs are not supported due to battery usage mainly. As for on the homescreen that would be done via a plug-in not an update and as Orange and MS do not release new plug-ins (altho there is one coming from Orange) you would have to wait of a developer to code one, but we are reluctant too due to the battery issue.

As for PIE anim gif support that is down to MS, which i doubt they will ever implement :/

"Error 117: Invalid Id" for me. I guess the 'Orange' 1.60 will be out soon.

I hope it is not 'soon' in OrangeTime...

I want to be young enough to enjoy using my phone, not sitting in a retirement home, pretending to be deaf and stinking of piss.

I've been reading the "Qtek ROM 1.50.9.1" thread for an hour now and it seem sthat there are a heap of risks involved, especially if you are running ROM 1.50.28.. (which I am, in Dutch to be exact).. Thats when they start talking about changing bootloaders and downgrading to 1.3  They lost me right there ;)

So, waiting for the orange 1.6 upgrade will be a safer way to go for me right ?? Without bootloader misery ? (please say yes :? )

*sorry bout the edit, saw some typo's :) *

When you get the error are you running the update with the phone on the bootloader screen? (hold voice note and action key while booting phone)

"]Just noticed I can switch between lines by holding down hash in the new update too!

That's great news Paul.

It's a real pain having to go to the telephony menu at least twice a day.

In case anyone is interested: (The update on Q-TEK site ).

To begin with our bat life seemed great after the non-orange update, but had become worse over the past few days to the point of unaceptable  . We had updated two phones and had seen both phones suffer the same problem. Battery life has gotten worse on both.

We have now gone back to the original Orange update from previous threads and its fixed the problem.

Battery life has now gone back to being exceptable.

Interesting I have had excellent battery life since the update was released :?

It's unlikely to be the update if it was as you say good to begin with then it got worse over what time scale

are you talking about?

Was hoping the update would be released prior to the 'BIG Event' next Saturday. Thats looks unlikely now I guess.

It was the phone and not the update causing bat life probs. (looks down with embarased expression!!)

Next time I will research things better before posting as it may have put others off Unnecessarily after reading my bat life problems.

I have recieved a replacement phone yesterday and updated the rom on both the new one and my wifes E100 to the 150511 (english t9) update. The battery life is indeed brilliant now on both phones.

I like the addons that are set on rom. The IA software is really handy although a bit poor where rec video is concerned.

The record addons to messages (sms) is a good result too.

Thanks.(sorry)

today 25-8-2003 i called orange NL, spoke with 2 different persons @ share (this is how our gprs service is called) and asked for update 1.5

first person gave me a hint, to become a member @ http://www.developers.orange.co.uk which i did ( off course) and i'm still waiting for my login credentails.

I would be able to dowload the update... don't know yet ;-p

she told me that all persons @ orange NL were running 1.5 BUT

battery indurence was NOT improved.

So i called back ;-) and got a different person on the phone and I asked the same question, she also told me that there where to many problems with 1.6 and therefore they are not sure to put it up for download.

NOTE this is not yet offical from orange NL

I also asked if they solved the problem, not able to sms (regular)kpn numbers, she could not tell.

Well, when I findd out more I let you all know....

cheers... ;-p

Do I still have my "orange Backup" function ? sim manager ? sound manager ?
