Guest xanadu Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 I suspect the virus may have come from this forum, as the email address i registered to has loads of phone related virus emails with addresses from phone companies, and I don't use that email for anything else.
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 If you have a linux or unix server, you can put the following in your .procmailrc, it takes care of all the traffic related to the Sobig virus: :0HB *^Subject: (Undeliverable: |)(Re: |)(Re: |)(Your details|Thank you!|Details|Re: My details|Approved|Application|Your application|Wicked screensaver|That movie|Movie) *^(> |)(Please see|See) the attached (zip |)file for details(.|)$ *^(From: .*postmaster@|Content-Type: multipart/mixed;) /dev/null :0HB *(Win32|W32|WORM).(Sobig|SOBIG).[fF] /dev/null
Guest drblow Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Blast! :x I hadn't got nay of these for about a week now - and today 13 in my inbox! 1 of which was from Paul!
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 not from paul. the virus uses forged sender's address gathered from address-books of infected machines. so the email with paul's address was not sent from paul's machine, and paul's machine was probably not infected by the virus.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 I'm clean! (well, free forum SoBig anyway) ;-) P
Guest dogbomb Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 Yeah. This virus seems to have vanished off the face of the earth now.
Guest fraser Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 This virus seems to have vanished off the face of the earth now. All the ISPs will be blocking it within their mail servers, so you won't see it on those ISPs. I'm sure it's still around though!!
