Guest gladel Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 I am using DOPOD 515 which is powered by smartphone 2003, it is very convient, but there are little application softwares. What bothers me most is nobody can tell me how to update the smartphone 2003, neither DOPOD nor MS, what a pity! Are there any enhancements with Windows Media Player compared to the one in Smartphone 2002 (ie. rewind, fastforward, etc...)?
Guest spacemonkey Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Most noticable difference in 2003 from a user perspective would be PocketIE which is supposed to be greatly improved support wise... ie it can view more sites The big difference is what it does for developers, but there's not gonna be many 2003 apps out yet, and some 2002 apps may not work properly without the dev'rs tweaking them. It'll settle down, but only once 2003 devices are readily available and the dev'rs have them to play with.
Guest Brody Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 I'd be interested to see a comparison between the DOPOD's IR strength and that of the Canary and Tanager to see if an IR Remote app would be worth while on the new handset...
Guest spacemonkey Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 From what I've seen the Dopod is a SPV with a bit more ram... that's it As far as a remote app, one of the reasons this won't work on SPV/e100 is HTC don't give us RAW access to the IR port. I doubt they've fixed that for the Dopod so IR strength alone won't help. I'd be interested to see a comparison between the DOPOD's IR strength and that of the Canary and Tanager to see if an IR Remote app would be worth while on the new handset...
Guest Brody Posted September 11, 2003 Report Posted September 11, 2003 Ok, thanks for the response, come to think of it, I new that the DOPOD was just an upgraded SPV (D'oh!)
Guest hmcheung Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 I've been using dopod 515 for a few weeks now and am writing some simple app on it. (some screen shots here). I've able to install some 2002 apps on it. I've tried SmartNES and PHM Registry Editor, both running smoothly, though the device seems to hang when I use the Find function in PHM Registry Editor and I'll need to reset it.
Guest gladel Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 Could anyone post the full layout of the dopod or any Smartphone 2003? Thanks in advance!
Guest goofy Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Waiting on Orange to tell us. Should find out very soon though ;) (whether or not we're allowed to podt when is another matter though :/) Any idea if the Smartphone 2003 update is also applicable to HTC Tanager model? My phone is currently running on 2002 version.
