Guest beersoft Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 Just spoke to orangecare i will paraphrase "yes its a problem, no it doesn't affect the use or service of the phone, no replacements sorry" and the having to push the magic hangup button twice to end a call is also not a problem as well. pants :) -- Owen "I would tell you about the user who locked his keys in his car and spent half an hour with a coathanger trying to get his family out!"
Guest kyrkesmith Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 What about the aforementioned: If you've placed your ear near the SPV's speaker (most likely), then you'll be temporarily deafened by an extremely high-pitched noise! The repeated occurence of this problem can SEVERELY damage one's hearing PERMANENTLY.and Ignoring this would contravene with EU and UK safety regulations. as mantrac originally stated?
Guest mantrac Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 I'm glad others are facing the same problem as me (not glad cause they are subjected to this Taiwanese torture but glad because I haven't started imagining things just yet!). "beersoft", the woman you spoke to in Orange care is probably just another *O-monkey* who reads cascading sets of questions on her monitor and acts accordingly... She's probably got no legal knowledge about this issue... I'll be very surprised if she's actually ever made it to college in the first place... No offence to her, she's just trying to make a living like all of us. All I'm trying to say is that her word is far from being final and the only way you can get Orange to pay attention is by legal means... ...which brings us to my original post. They're getting that letter and they better reply to it too! P.S. With the amount of standardised crap answers we've been getting while speaking to Orange, I'm surprised they haven't replaced their staff with an automated voice system... I still haven't recovered from my last communication with them: "When you're abroad, you get charged from the moment your phone starts ringing... Even if you don't pick up and even if you don't have voicemail"
Guest kyrkesmith Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 Lol! Yeah, I've noticed that nearly all of them read the questions off the screen, to the extent that you get them saying to you "You should now see the screen shown on the left". However, I have also had the occasional person who does know what they're talking about (usually an SPV owner themselves), and they can be pretty helpful.
Guest DagBO Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 Hi there I've had this prob with my canary and as well now with my tanager... I'm sorry to read, that it seems to be a serious (interfering and hurting) bug. I'll try this earsaver.cab later (when I'm home from work). Would be lovely, if this will solve the problem...
Guest broeren79 Posted August 30, 2003 Report Posted August 30, 2003 i definatly would like to hear the outcome of this.....
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 I have e100 (Eurotel unit) with software 1.5 and nothing like this happens. When I press call button twice, it will initiate last called number without any strange sound or noise or so.
Guest fraser Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Hell, I have an SPV and I can't replicate the problem either. I often dial numbers by using the green button to get the most recent numbers up, never had a problem with it.
Guest beersoft Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 my spv number 2 (the one i broke at the weekend) and spv 3 (which is now unlocked not after enough time on the phone to orange) both have the pop problem, and orange still don't think they need to address the fault - Owen trying to stay on topic, in his own thread :) somewhere else around here
Guest beersoft Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Hi I have managed to capture the problem with the PDA-o-Love i used sound forge to increase the gain, and trim all the cursing and fumbling noise from my pit of an office. later -- Owen if i broke the attachafile-o-matic its here http://beersoft.demon.co.uk/spv/spv-pop-loud.wav
Guest mattscholey Posted September 6, 2003 Report Posted September 6, 2003 This happened to me on my E100. Luckily I was using the loudspeaker at the time. Your right to write this letter. Matt
