Guest rikwebb Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 No probs, here you go... http://www.alk.eu.com/ Its very good GPS software, much better than TomTom, and I have tried both. Its the company that do the software for HP's GPS system for the Ipaq. Rik
Guest rikwebb Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Might be worth looking here http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/ as well. Good reviews and info. By the way, Travroute, ALK, and Team Warrior are all the same company. Have fun surfing. Rik
Guest mr_naughty Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 You can get a serial cable for an XDA http://pc-mobile.net/pdaserial.htm, which might be able to hook up an SPV to a GPS (e.g. road angel, see www.blackspot.com), but as far as I can tell there is no software at the moment. Interestingly, handango seem to think Pocket Streets and some of the Tom Tom maps will work on Windows Mobile - isn't that the OS used on the E200? Also, www.pdamods.com is another place to look for pda / gps navigation systems, but alas, they have no smartphone products at the moment.
Guest outthere Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 http://www.celluloco.com/products/customer....php?pageid=152 All the images show a PPC rather than a phone, but it 'promises' to work with any smartphone. I'd like to find some manufacturer specs on the thing. Anyone else seen this? EDIT: Found it: http://www.iodata.jp/prod/multimedia/gps/2...sdgps/index.htm Anyone read Japanese?
Guest Sp3ctre Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Am I not correct in thinking it's an SDIO card?... and most smartphones don't support SDIO?
Guest fraser Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Am I not correct in thinking it's an SDIO card?... and most smartphones don't support SDIO? Sort of. The SD card in your phone is SDIO, the question is whether the manufacturers of devices provide Smartphone drivers or not. Mostly not at the moment unfortunately.
Guest webnom Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 RE: e200 and gps We make a product called eBeam (www.e-beam.com) and have a Bluetooth version available and software for PPC, PC, Mac, and Palm. We'd love to make a smartphone version of our sw but so far have had no luck using serial port profile (SPP) on the e200. Since the EMTAC (and I'm sure other BT GPS receivers) uses SPP, I'm guessing that even if you had software, you'd have to have an update to the BT drivers on the phone to allow SPP connections. Microsoft support personnel are claiming this is on the manufacturer to provide and so I can't expect help from them. Any other news from anyone else? GPS on smartphone is THE KILLER APP!
Guest neilg Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/09/08/co...ot_smart_phone/ this looks quite cool. I know it was mentioned earlier in the thread but this confirms defiante smartphone support and launch

Guest Zahid Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 Can the data from the TomTom mobile SD card be copied to a mini SD card to make it work with a C500?
Guest Zahid Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 ...or do I have to wait for a release for the C500??
Guest fozzie Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 Or perhaps just wait until somebody answers? :) Posted from my SmartPhone!

Guest juplin Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 No voice directions though :) Their GPS support for smartphone is through a BT kit developed by a third party company. Don't know detialed information. Just wait and see
Guest fozzie Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 TomTom Mobile has now been released and is in stock at various places. Who's going to be the first MoDaCo member to buy & try ? :)
Guest blewer Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 Maybe Paul can get a deal and sell it on the MoDaCo shop :hint: :hint:
Guest Shakface Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 tomtom mobile and the c500 dont work together I have TOMTOM mobile. The software is good and work superbly on a e200 but apparantly they are some dodgy .dll files within the c500 which makes it uncompatible with the c500, so you'll just have to wait for tomtom to release a fix for it
Guest the_ugly_north Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 Pocket streets cannot divert round a problem it is the same as printing off an autoroute map with the added bonus (?) of the GPS telling you where on that map you are. You cannot edit the route on the phone either. Not a contender really!
Guest fraser Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 Very good point. I'm not a huge fan of any app that you do the bulk on the PC, then use the mobile to access it on the move. Mapopolis gets my vote for cool mapping software, the addition of street numbers is essential if you live in a large city. Not tried it with GPS, still working on my trusty(ish) SPV, so no BT. That's my first upgrade new toy, so watching this thread with interest!! Some sort of deal for a BT GPS device would be great!!
Guest the_ugly_north Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 Look here http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=115191 Co-pilot is down at £219!!! (inc bluetooth receiver)
Guest Zahid Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 That looks like a good deal!! I'm tempted. Anybody know how good the GPS receiver is with this kit? What's it like in comparison to the TomTom receiver?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 Tom Tom Mobile is a stunning application, I found it ran better than my friends ppc version. I have yet to see anything as usable from another company :)
