what is this Reuters messenger? ive never heard of it...

Orginally designed for the front desk/share traders to quickly communicate, due to it's success Reuters are/have rolled it out to a number of financial institutions, hence it's user base is already pretty much conquered the corporate IM market, or so I'm led to believe from what I have read so far.

For those of you who have msn as homepage: read the articles.

For those of you who haven't got msn as homepage and heard some bells ring, here are the official actions which Microsoft will do:

1. Chatboxes will be closed: This is because the recent investigations about the safety of chatboxes. Recently, there have been several reports of perverts and pedophiles who tried to use chatboxes to contact children and tried to date with them. The real treath of a chatbox is that you can pretend to be anyone, and have any age or qualities you want people to believe you have. MSN Messenger, however, is no public chatbox, and even isn't a chatbox at all. With Messenger, you know who you are talking with, because you have the other person's mailadress and both have to accept that one can be in the other's contact list.

Therefore, chatboxes can be closed down due to a safety problem, but messenger won't.

2. There will indeed be a premium service for users of Mobile Hotmail. This is the use of hotmail through the special pages for ppc/smartphones, and also doesn't have anything to do with Messenger. Reason why they do this, is that they seem to have a lot of work updating the ppc/smartphone portals, and they almost gain nothing with it.

Again, this has nothing to do with charging for Messenger.

Greetz,

Roke
