Guest The PocketTV Team
Mitac announced that they will allow users to unlock their Mio 8380 if they want to, beginning this month. See http://65.115.69.88/mio/news_013.asp It is still unclear if unlocking the Mio 8380 will solve their certification bug - which prevents installing some applications and is explained here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...?t=90626#288261
Guest The PocketTV Team
Good news for Mio 8380 users: In addition with locking/unlocking control, Mitac will also provide a patch that will fix the infamous HKCR privilege issue (also known as the certification problem, discussed here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=90626 ). The Mio 8380 patch should be available here, too (soon): http://65.115.69.88/mio/news_013.asp

Guest The PocketTV Team
In fact the Mio unlocking service is already available on http://mitac.mic.com.tw/digiwalker/main.htm , but in chinese only. The new service (available Oct 15th) will also allow to install a patch to fix the firmware problem that currently prevents installing many signed apps on locked Mio's.
