Why? whats the point :? if people dont like the phone they wont buy it, if they do like it they will buy it, simple as!

The point is that (in my lowly opinion) we continually get fobbed off with phones that are substandard for one reason or another - specs, design etc.

Yes we could all sit around the MoDoCo campfire singing Kumbyah and praise anything that comes our way - personally I don't see things that way.

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint... oh yes, love 'em!

But no-one likes coffee! ;)

There's a hands-on preview of an early version of the handset over at infosync.

In terms of performance, the Voq is certainly fast: on the 200MHz processor, Smartphone 2003 really flew, and we experienced none of the sluggishness that can plague the SPV and its brethren. This extra speed shouldn't impact the battery life any: we were pleased to discover that the Voq will ship with an 1100mAh battery, which, when combined with a range of power-consumption tweaks for this business-targeted handset, should result in a pretty decent duration. In any case, it can't be worse than the SPV's measly one-day per charge.

Oh no I do applaud the effort by all means, but look how that hinge will end up right in the middle of the keyboard, stopping you from quickly moving your fingers from one side to the other.

I think you'll find that you won't actually 'type' on the keyboard, but will basically push the buttons with your thumbs. If you put the phone on the desk and tried to type with it everytime you pressed a key on the left hand side the phone would flip over :/

I think you are meant to hold it with both hands and basically prob the keys with yer thumb whilst holding and supporting the phone with your hands.

might be wrong though.

im sorry kids, but stop bitching about it being huge; the G1000 is big. this is not. the SPV is not big. the keyboard rocks, and i would like to see it in MORE phones.

Now if i can just get a clamshell smartphone with that keyboard in it....

Just because YOU don't like the design doesn't mean it is deficient. You're entitled to your opinion, but don't confuse your opinion with fact. The FACT is that this design is innovative in the SmartPhone space because no one else has done it yet (not counting those lucky bastards in Korea) and it solves a common problem - poor text input methods on small phones. I happen to like the design, but that doesn't mean the phone will be a huge success. It just means I like it.

Not trying to start a flame war, but I'm amazed at how often people take their opinions so seriously as to declare that something is evil incarnate just because it doesn't appeal to them.

A lot of people do seem to think that the world should revolve around their opinion. The unfortunate thing is that most of the time they become managers and really **** their staff off. Or does this just happen to me ?

I don't like the design, but wonder what the battery life will be like. I really like my E100 but the battery life of my phone is terrible (and that is a fact) as I need to charge it practically every day.

i like the design.. (i'm sure i'm not the only one..) - but price is the CRUCIAL FACTOR.. after all it's a phone, and phones get stolen more than pdas. maybe if noone likes the design, this will be a 'safer' phone!

Price is A factor sure, but THE crucial factor? If price was the crucial factor for everyone then we'd all have Maxxons!

And were someone to knick the phone, I imagine they'd start trying to grate cheese! ;)

FYI, our illustrious leader has had the chance to play with the phone at Mobius (lucky git, next year take all Mods with you Paul ;) ) and by all accounts the phone is pretty nice;

Not much bigger than a SPV

The thumb pad (and hinge) are very sturdy and feels well built.

Or at leaset your US Mod!!!! Even if I'm not allowed....I could just wait outside and you can stop down to the street once in awhile to show me some stuff....or just hold it up thru the window! :D

The more I see and read about this phone the more i love it. I think the design is slick, very cool looking.

I want to congradulate this company for making this innovative thumbpad. I love the idea. To the people who think the thumbpad hidge would eventually break or be cheap, how often do you see flip phones that broke in 2? ;)

My only worrie is that by the time this comes out, i will be so use to using bluetooth and a built in camera with the spv2 that those features i might not want to do without :- /

Yes, I love the full keyboard! The only thing I am concerned about as well is if it includes an integrated bluetooth and camera.

I pointed out to the the guy from Sierra how important Bluetooth was to the professional market, particularly in Europe, so who knows...

Either this guy has HUGE hands or the phone isn't as big as it looks in other pictures. I like it. I just hope Sierra is consistent and makes a CDMA version like they do with many of their other products.
