And I'm not spamming all the threads either. I am just expressing my opinion. That's what discussion boards are for.

It was a bit of fun ( ;) ) for those with a sense of humour.

Come on Midnight, admit it - YOU designed the Voq!

nah, if i designed a phone it would be a gamer phone (definitely lose the full qwerty keyboard, not needed), analog joystick, keypad slides out from under the phone, 5-way navi-roller on side of phone for quick menu navigation, stereo 3d sound, gun metal grey case, 300mhz, goforce gpu, lots of ideas on that subject, but then, its more of a wish list for us game developers ;)

i think we have 2 people here obsessing how bad they think the Voq looks, you dont like it, dont buy it, get over it, if people do like it thats THEIR opinion, you dont see them spamming all the threads about how nice it is do you.

Midnight, i hope you weren't assuming i was one of those people obsessing over that hunk of metal (Voq) No offence to those who have one but i'd rather be seen with a Nokia hehe ;)

Midnight, what if you were going to design a business phone - what approach would you take?

probably similar to what i just said, but no analog stick, have a keypad on the front (normal keypad), then adopt something similar to the nokia approach of rotating the phone, rotate the phone 90 degrees and then a slide out qwerty keypad from underneath, problem is, that the std ms os prolly wont allow screen rotation in the standard apps, so text input would then be restricted to custom apps written for a 90 degree rotated scren (shame, cos means you get more text per line, handy for text docs) think of it like an e200 on its side with slide out qwerty keypad

still reckon a 5-way naviroller would be good though, going through menus would be insanely quick, as would scrolling through text's, docs etc

oh, and if any hardware manufacturer picks up this idea, remember where you saw it first, i want my royalties hehe ;)

actually, why doesnt a hardware manufacturer for smartphones hold a competition to design a smartphone, a phone designed by a user and voted for by users (they'd abviously have to change some of it, just to be practical obviously)

Well having just watched the Matrix Reloaded extras disc, it would seem that Samsung is the company to go to with original ideas. Go for it Midnight!!!

BTW in the logo, what kind of handset is the dude holding?

Hmm.... I've always wondered :-k

it isnt actually any make/model, originally it was gonna be an SPV, but as was pointed out, MoDaCo is for any MS Smartphone device, not just SPV's obviously ;)

i thought the 8390 does have bluetooth as it runs Smartphone 2003.

Just because a phone runs a certain platform - doesnt mean they (Mitac) have to include features such as BT. Take the Dopod for example (an SPV which runs WM2k3) that doesnt have BT.

Well in that case, looks like I will be going for the E200 when it comes out then. I take it all the software that works on SP2K2 also works on 2k3?

Im 99% sure its backwards compatible. The SPV only got better when developers started chipping in with their games and applications, so they'd be stupid not to allow previous titles apps etc, therefore an unlocked E200.

Hmm, i think you'll find that most, but not all software will run. This isnt the fault of MS, but more the fault of programs making mistakes/taking shortcuts/and tricking the OS, and is common in most operating systems to find that although it should be backwards compatible, its not always the case.

Most of the non-working apps/games will be converted to work with 2k3 anyway so I wouldnt worry about it :)
