Guest blewer Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 if you pay as you go Access to these services on your phone with Orange World costs £4 per megabyte and you only pay for what you use. If you use Circuit Switched Data (CSD) then calls are charged at 10p a minute. if you pay monthly You can pay for Orange World in one of two ways: You can pay in advance for Orange World and benefit from discounts with Orange World Access which only costs from £4 per month and the first month is free. Orange World Access 3 gives you 3 megabytes per month and also includes 10 free texts and 20 photo messages per month. Or if you prefer you can 'pay as you consume' - where GPRS is charge at £3 per megabyte and circuit switch data is charged at your service plan rate. Orange World Access Orange World Access 3 free for a month then only £4 a month 3 megabytes/4 hours circuit switched data 10 free text messages 20 free standard photo messages megabytes cost £3 each once your 3 megabytes have been used. You will not be able to rollover any unused megabytes Orange World Access 5 free for a month then only £6 a month 5 megabytes 10 free text messages 20 free standard photo messages 5 free video messages megabytes cost £2 each once your 5 megabytes have been used. You will not be able to rollover any unused megabytes. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest goinnuts Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 @will o world thingy-me-jig wap or web enabled phones. (source dealer supprt).
Guest comebackdx Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Presumaby they arent intelligent enough to move you from your old tarrif to an equivelent new one? Yes & No - the previous month I had asked to be moved onto a 2MB GPRS for £4, and when I read this thread I decide to call Orange to update my package. I found out that I was automatically setup to get the 3MB GPRS package for £4. However the suggestion of the World Access for the free month and SMSMMS extras, was from a customer service rep. So thanks to them for picking up on this and suggesting it to me.
Guest Jakster Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 ive heard from official sources within Orange that the Orange World Access bundle is WAP only. Am getting this confirmed now........ Its possible that the CSR wont have had that information clarified yet.
Guest goinnuts Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 if owa is only wap why oh why offer owa5 with vid messaging. vid messaging is only available on p900(web) 6600(web) and e200(web). see where am going with this. dealer support (thats orange retail staff only, not customer facing, said web or wap phones.) also anybody been on the orange site using there spv? its now called orange world. also why replace orange access pack with these two offers. clue1. we complained, it was only available for wap, as it stated. 3 month free trail to wap. unlimited access to wap. clue2. owa 3mb of gprs or 4 hrs of csd, no mention of wap. (taken from the new o magazine.) if it is only for wap use these pionts, when blasting cs, then you should be able to use it for web.
Guest Jakster Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I know there are very mixed messages everywhere I have looked for answers. I have gone back to Orange with this and the answer has changed again but im trying to get hold of a definitive answer before everyone kicks off IF it is only WAP access on either of the OWA bundles. tbh i regret posting my last message before I had a full answer! trying to talk to the right person is often the hardest task....
Guest blewer Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Looks like full internat access to me. But then again with orange you never know
Guest Jakster Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 hehe looks like it is the full internet access as it also mentions POP3 downloads and talks about browsing (with no mention of wap). However I can tell u I got an E200 to discover and pair with a P900 using bluetooth just now. Not that I can do anything with it lol. :)
Guest Jasonkruys Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 On the Orange World access page you have all been quoting, on the left hand menu It says "Orange Worl (wap)"
Guest morpheus2702 Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I dunno which to go with... I check my POP3 mails maybe once a day, a surf mainly WAP sites. Am I better off on GPRS3 or Orange World 3?
Guest blewer Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Orange better sort this out. If I find I have a big bill at the end of the month, heads will roll :) EDIT: Just spoke to Orange and the lady on the phone said "DEFINITELY full internet access" as it was quoted in MB and not mins. Lets hope she is right and we all don't get a huge bill EDIT 2: Just called them again, and the guy told myhe is sure it is full access. :( He also said that if I get charged at the end of the month call him and he will refund me :D  He gave me his name, ext number etc...... I can't lose
Guest Jasonkruys Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 On the Orange World access page you have all been quoting, on the left hand menu It says "Orange World (wap)" As well as saying wap in the very menu item you have to click to get to the info, within the info, as well as being quoted in MB it also says 4 hours circuit switched data time. Be careful guys. As long as it says wap in the title, unless you have anything else in writing they could quite easily fob you off it it turns out it is not full internet access
Guest mcwarre Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Be careful guys. As long as it says wap in the title, unless you have anything else in writing they could quite easily fob you off it it turns out it is not full internet access Good advice. However you can ask them to make a note on your account that they (OCS) have stated full internet access. Also take a note of the operators name, number and call centre for future reference. That way when the bill comes you are covered.
Guest stu_lowe2003 Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 I had it out with orange over this a couple of days ago. It took various calls to 156 and then customer relations. The final word from orange legal team was that the access world pack is just for access through the wap portal. If you use the orangeinternet portal then you will be charged normal gprs rates. The print on the website is very misleading and it could be argued that they are infact falsely advertising what is on offer. As well as that they offered me the world access pack free for three months when I bought my Treo 600, sounded good to me so I took them up on it. Only when I contact them to find out about fair usage they tell me that the Treos browser can't access through the orange wap portal, therefore I can't have the free offer they offered me. Grrrr... they make me so angry sometimes (all the time). Stu
Guest martin Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Oh No, As far as I can see this exactly the same argument that we had with the WAP Access and Mobile E-mail promotions. Orange World refers to either the GSM WAP dialup or the GPRS APN: orangewap. see http://www.orange.co.uk/multimedia/cost.html. The new Orange GPRS bundle refers to the GPRS APN: orangeinternet See http://www.orange.co.uk/talkplans/gprs/costs.html You could actually have both a GPRS bundle and OWA/Open access running at the same time. That is what I would do
Guest blewer Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 I have sent a PM to Mr Orange to ask for definite answer :)
Guest Richie M Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 I have sent a PM to Mr Orange to ask for definite answer :) Network issues, pricing etc are nothing to do with Mr Orange
Guest blewer Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Richie, I know but I thought he may be able to find out for us  Anyway, he has responded and said he will find out and post a reply. He also said thanks for pointing out this thread to him. I guess he does take some interest in pricing etc.... What a nice chap  Posted from my SmartPhone!
