Yep, all joking aside this is getting really tiresome. Paul or even a mod - tell us that something is happening on this petition, or tell us that it is just meaningless bullshit!

Ah, an interesting response there from Paul and the Mods.

I think that answers our questions.

Shame, I thought these last posts might get a response from Paul when he returned from the MVP summit. But he's returned and still no response.

Oh well.

Paul, please could you comment on the status of this petition, and when you plan to send it off, and why you haven't already?

But, even though Paul is online now, and is reading this message, he isn't replying, despite me asking him to in the message. It baffles me, not that this petition has gone to waste, and that he hasn't sent it off, but that he hasn't posted just to inform us what is going on!

Please tell us. It's only fair.

Thanks,

Matt

Er, I've literally just read this message?

What is going on currently, is that I am talking to people within the networks about the current GPRS situation, and in light of this, it wouldn't be in the best interest of us or the petition to send it off at this time.

Unfortunately, these talks have been long and drawn out, but they ARE likely to reach a conclusion one way or the other very soon.

I can't say more atm i'm afraid!

Today is my first day *properly* back online ;-)

The signature count is currently at 1690.

As someone said previously, I think one last push will be necessary if we do send it on to try and get a few more signatures!

That's OK. We were just getting frustated at the lack of comment from the mods for months.

Thanks for keeping us up to date, and good luck with the talks!

So how does that compare to our poll?

Can we have another update Paul, when you're back from Tenerife I suppose...even though I'm not going to get a holiday this year by the looks of things. Not that I'm bitter about it or anything. Just because I didn't get a holiday last year *either*. But, hey, you folks just enjoy yourselves allright! Don't you worry about poor old me stuck back in Blighty

Anyway, back on track...

What's the latest?

Have your talks got anywhere?

Was there another puch for signatures?

Has the petition been sent off?

Flat rate GPRS would make a :!: GREAT OFFER :!: to launch the C500 with eh Orange?

No change, I am trying to determine currently whether the above tariffs will be extended to 2.5G GPRS, and if not, whether 3G 'roams' onto the Orange GPRS network (I think you can see where i'm coming from)...

So what's the news?

I see that on 3G orange are offering 65Mb for £20/month!  or "unlimited" (1Gb) for £75/month

Sorry, 1Gb is unlimited? Did someone change the dictionary?

Hi,

Did anything happen to this? A lot of people signed up...

If not can the thread be closed? or at least close the petition.

Best regards

Steve

No, nothing happened.

The 3G tariffs came out, and if you sign up for one of them you can "roam" on the 2G network and get GPRS. The cost of data doing that way is lower (check the website for current prices)

Um... I just got a letter from Orange today, I don't know if this is news to anybody else though, but just in case:

Unrestricted access to information and entertainment on your phone

As a pay monthly customer, Orange will be giving you the freedom to explore a wide range of information [...] From April 8, all phones on your account will have unrestricted access to mobile services, including adult content.

So I guess the petition worked. Cheers guys.

;)

You know that it's not the same thing don't you?!

Orange are saying you can surf porn sites on your phone, not that you can have flat rate GPRS to do it

I know now, I found out the really really expensive way. Thank you Orange for a £200+ bill.

Signed...what most annoys me about Orange is that they offer unlimited data for £1 per day on PAYG, but there isn't even a £30 unlimited monthly package on contract plans, and you'd expect a contract deal to be cheaper than PAYG, not alot more expensive! Unless of course you count the OWU deals which seem to be hit and miss as to whether you can actually get or not

Of course the ironic thing is that Orange got there first with unlimited data, and at a cheaper rate than TMob! Back in 02/03 with the launch of the original SPV Orange ran a £6/month unlimited GPRS deal, and extended it past the end date by a few extra months. Since then their data deals have just become comparatively worse. Shame really!
