aha! this could be it, the moment of truth. the number on the orange box is completely diff  :x soooooooo annoyed all this time wasted. thank you for all your help everyone. will try it now [-o<

Just realised why IMEI no is diff, i'm so slow. i've had the obligatory 2 replacement handsets so of course the number is diff. if i'd only managed the *#06# before. might be worth mentioning this little trap for others struggling to unlock. or it could be just me.........

well, even with the correct IPSM still a big nothing in the way of unlocking message. nor have i got a response from the orange developers site. guess i will have to keep trying unless anyone has any more ideas. thanks for all the attempts at help so far, who knows i may yet succeed.

is it because i have upgraded to a newer version of the operating system by my network provider? if the second reason is possible, could there be any other way i can unlock my phone.

More than likely, what network are you on?

I've done it! at last the unlock nightmare is over. the only way that worked for me was to do it from the phone itself. roll on some free time to download some stuff. it took 3 mins ferchristsake!! after all that faffing about. worth a try if you are having problems. Posted from my SmartPhone!

:) hello jason, i'm sure you have had a good laugh at my inept attempts to unlock. First make sure you have the correct IMEI number, *#06# on your phone will get this for you. Don't fall for reading off the box, especially if you've had replacement handsets.

Then go into the internet explorer on your phone, and input www.modaco.com. when you get to this fantastic site, go to help and advice. then find this post 'no luck unlocking spv' and look thru until you find the word 'unlock' that is in a diff colour to the rest of the text in one of the posts.

Click on this with the action key on your phone. It should take you to the orange unlock web page. fill in the required fields, make sure you have unlock spv highlighted on the first page, and agree to terms on second page. then input phone no, IMEI no, name, etc.

You may need to scroll the screens around a bit to find the fields to fill in ( obvious i know, but i'm covering all bases so you don't go thru what i did )

Then you should get a message saying your phone will be unlocked in 5 mins, because you are already online you don't need to mess around worrying about GPRS being active.

To select things with the phone cursor(just in case again) you click the action key to get crosshairs up, and then move it over your selection and click again. To fill in fields, get dark outline to box over selected field and then press action button, cursor will appear in box, then type in info.

Hope it works and i haven't gone overboard on the instructions. let me know how you get on. good luck. :(

Thanks for getting back to me. Your advice was clear thanks, maybe a touch too descriptive but i could follow it, which was good.

What is bad is it's still not working! :) i so thought that was going to work. how long did you have to wait for that golden message to appear?

I'll keep this brief this time. sorry about that. it only took a few mins, but apparently can take overnight. i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
