Well just spoke to R&D for microsoft and aparently they have nothing to do with the production of any update for the spv. all they do is produce the os then Orange customise it to there needs. So dont take that as an excuse from orange. or is that microsoft just covering there back ohh well....

Well still waiting for a manager from 156 team to ring ohh i cant wait.....

I got a call from them and they said that the update has been on the orange website for 7 days now. but he didn't tell me where, he just hung up.

if you want his number... 07973100194

I would call him, but ever since they got rid of the cheap call charges for £50 top-up i've been kind of cheap (especially due to the gprs charges)

It's All gone quiet on the update front! 10 days since Mr Orange's last post in this thread(which he started) and that was only on the dutch update. Any chance they are too busy worrying about all the E200 problems and aren't bothered about the phones they have already sold but more about ones they want to sell in the future?

Orange don't reply to the correspondance dept. I sent a letter 6 weeks ago registered post. They are criminals who ignore their customers. I am infact so annoyed with them after 3 months of contract that I have dropped down the the lowest contract and am going elsewhere.

What do you think the chances are of Orange waving atleast some of the £100 upgrade fee I need to cough up if I want a MPx200. I'm gonna give it a try soon. I may be in luck, as my reason for wanting it is too access the service I payed £300 for, but O are not delivering (MSN Messenger).

I'll let you know how I get on.

So I've phoned them up. I didn't get the fee waved, but I learnt some interesting stuff.

Firstly, the upgrades guy had a word with Fax&Data who actually told me when the upgrade would really be out - sometime in the New Year. Unforunately I believe this figure.

And the guy passed the blame on to Microsoft for "not telling Orange the new proxy settings". Well obviously that quote was made up, but what mattered was that he was passing the blame on to Microsoft, when althought at the end of the day Microsoft are to blame, Orange sold me the phone, the money I paid for it went to Orange, and Orange should take some sort of responsibility for it.

After being told all this, I said I wanted to complain, and asked if there was some official way to do this. He said that there wasn't, and that its MSN I should complain to, and not them.

I won't be complaining to MSN (that would be unreasonable) but I do plan to take this as far as I can with Orange, to try and get some of my money back, for the service I payed so much for, yet cannot receive.

SPV owners are suppose to generate more non-voice revenue for Orange than owners of any other phone. It's time somebody at Orange thought about this fact, and realised its probably better to treat SPV owners fairly, before we all give up on the SPV and Orange, and go buy an XDA2.

If anyone has any advice on how I might be able to get what I deserve from Orange, please post. I'm not gonna take legal action, but I few angry letters/phone calls might be worth it.

Matt,

I totally agree with you. I am thoroughly annoyed with things that Orange have done to mislead me into taking up their services in just 3 months. The orange "correspondance dept" which is supposed to deal with individual issues and have the power to "do stuff" is a load of rubbish. I was told to expect a reply in two weeks at the most and it's now six weeks on.

"]It will be sooner than that from what I hear...

Thanks for that Paul, but I think the time for being cryptic has long since passed.

Id say you had have no chance of them waving the upgrade fee, and you might find its moer than £100 if your on a low talkplan or have upgradeed recently

I've been with them for 3 months on a £30 plan. They wanted £200 to upgrade to pretty much any phone!!

i dont know why your all moaning about the update, yea it would be nice to have it but come on you must rememer the 1st software update, that took an age to come out, i've got an SPV classic and have been using MSN fine you just have to work around these small problems, if using MSN is so important to you then why dont you download agile messanger from this very site ;) :(

I assume your on Pay As You Go, if you look at the PAYG talkplans and then try and figure out where your cheap calls would go you would see that you ar einfact better off since they now gove you £55 for a £50 top up, not bad if you ask me.

Sorry for goin off topic
