i dont know why your all moaning about the update, yea it would be nice to have it but come on you must rememer the 1st software update, that took an age to come out, i've got an SPV classic and have been using MSN fine you just have to work around these small problems, if using MSN is so important to you then why dont you download agile messanger from this very site ;)    :(

Hmm, and for those E100 users with the standard 1.5 ROM, is 24 hour battery life OK?

And where's the fix for GPRS stuck on dialling? :?

And the fix for T9 words not being remembered? :x

But you are right. There is a workaround - its called buy another phone.

Again, thanks for those helpful words.

I have Rom 1.3.5.6 i have no problem with GPRS sticking on dialling

i get more than 24 hrs out of my battery

and is it too much for you to type a word in more than once? i do find some words dont go into the memory but most save fine, your all just looking for a reason to moan. :!:

Oh yea have you tried to install the keyboard drivers? that does a rom update that may solve a few of your problems

Is it too much for you to read a few numbers?

E100 users have ROMs above 1.5. And hence all the problems listed.

SPVs users have 1.3.5 ROMs. Hence at least you don't get the battery problem.

Well i actually got a phone call from some nice lad at orange who told me that i can download agile messanger. is that oranges new answer for the msn problem. if agile messanger works why the F**k doesnt msn messenger work. the spv is limited enough without installing any thirdparty programs that do jobs that the spv should be able to do.

ohhh i cant wait to c if the manager of 156 actually phones me this time as she is suposed to phone me before lunch with an eplination 2 y the patch isnt ready.

mmm.....just been testing some of the previous roms available.

The Q-Tek is definately out on top for over all menu speed. It opens apps etc faster than the i-mate thats for sure.

I do hope that the new forthcoming Orange is as fast as the Q-tek.

Its just a rather large pity that the Q doesnt have english t9 true ability.

So for now the only real alternative has got to be the i-Mate in my opinion that is until hell freezes over and the proverbial pig flies over the top of the Orange HQ

Whilst I understand that the mods can't say anything about release date (apart from 'before the New Year') they didn't seem to find ANYTHING wrong with the 1.6 update (unless I missed a post in the last 30-odd pages), so what is Orange's problem? And Paul can't tell us when the update is coming out (though he clearly knows when it WILL come out) - it's not his responsibility anyway; surely the same can't apply to Mr Orange ? All we want is a definite (and realistic) release date. Then we can all shut up and wait.

I got a call from them and they said that the update has been on the orange website for 7 days now. but he didn't tell me where, he just hung up.

if you want his number... 07973100194

I would call him, but ever since they got rid of the cheap call charges for £50 top-up i've been kind of cheap (especially due to the gprs charges)

I assume your on Pay As You Go, if you look at the PAYG talkplans and then try and figure out where your cheap calls would go you would see that you ar einfact better off since they now gove you £55 for a £50 top up, not bad if you ask me.

No but before I used to get 5p text messages, 10ppm to orange and 15ppm to other networks and landlines.

now its 10p per message, 25ppm to orange, 50ppm to other networks

I do not call that cheaper

sorry for going off topic :-$

Did anyone alse get a sms from orange to call them back this morning (27th)

I called them back to find it was an Orange customer satisfaction survey.

wanted to know points out of 5 for things like satisfaction of their customer services....operator knowledge....

I was honest to a fault. Told them about the hastles regarding this spv E100 and how I was fed up with the way its been going on for such a long time without anything being done.

Nice lady though who seemed very understanding....

Mr. Orange,

Can you say some more about this large delay with regard to the update 1.6 :?:

On http://www.orange.dk , it is known as December... It's true :?:

Rather beginning or at the end of December :?:

Many users of the SPV seriously start to have some enough :!:

Orange does not communicate any more :!:

Please please please

went to the shop in town today c what they have to say... well the guirl was really nice and am goin 4 a drink with her 2morrow night he he

but any way back to the prob she said that the only options i have r 2 spend £250 on an upgrade or wait till hell freezes over for the update. I will c if i can get it any cheaper on sat morn :-)

Although it doesn't take a genius to work this out but the mid-november deadline for the ROM update has been missed.

I hear on the grapevine that Orange are now aiming to get the ROM updates out to UK, France, Holland and Swiss by mid-december......2003 (just in case some of you are feeling really cynical  )

Oh yeah and what I forgot to say was an official line from Mr orange would placate te many users waiting for the Update......

I guess the only way to get an official date out of Orange would be to post a slanderous (or is it libelous) statement (such as the Orange are recalling E200's that happeneed a couple of days ago) in otder to provoke them to respond.

Funny really that Mr. Orange can't be bothered to answer a question about a topic that is obviously causing a lot people a problem, but when it comes to defending an attack that may well affect sales of the new "flagship" product, he can reply within a day....

Nothing like keeping the customer happy (and I mean nothing!) Don't Orange realise that they are making themselves look stupid/incompetent whilst at the same ensuring that those people who are not satisfied with the wole Orange package are likely to just go eslewhere in the future...

Personally, I installed the i-mate ROM on my "original" SPV and that is the best that it has ever worked.

Anyway, yesterday I got my shiny new E200 (for free I might add on a £30/month contract) so no more waiting for the 1.6 ROM for me - but this wasn't the reason that I changed - I wanted the new BT capability to comply with the new driving regulation about to come into force... Sorry for wandering OT

Ahh i c i still have several months left on my contract with my e100 but not happy that messenger doesnt work and all i seem to get is the same unsatisfatory reply that "they r workin on the problem" but them again each time i ring i get a completly different answer. Today i got that microsoft have withdrawn the service and it will never work WTF!!!!!

god damm orange and there crappy customer services what do they expect us to do. be happy with a service that doesnt work!!!

I am really at a loss they wont phone me back when they say they r goin to. the monkeys that i get to speak to when i ring dont know there arse from the elbow. So i am now locked into a contract that i cant get out with one of the services that i bought the phone for not workin...

tjdransf,

I am in a similar position. I am in a contract I don't want to be in as I feel I have been mislead with various things and many services I bought teh contract for do not work. I have considered just terminating the direct debit and seeing if that would make them get back to me but I really dunno if it's worth the hassle of possible legal ramifications. Any suggestions? Has anyone terminated a direct debit before?
