Guest Paul [MVP] Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Q1 - Yes, I know of 2 people working on something, they will share the prize Q2 - Yes, I don't see why not, as long as the application is new, and freeware? P
Guest JoelRae Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Maybe it will persuade someone to finally make some science applications :) I second that!! Seriously though, thanks to whoever came up with (and funded) this stroke of genius... Joel
Guest orangewinger Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 What are the rules about the following: 1) Do the apps need to be signed? 2) What about updates to the uploaded applications, ie bug fixes etc? 3) Does the application have to be free for other users to download & use? cheers. Dave Lee
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 1) Do the apps need to be signed? No. This would put the competition out of reach of the majority of members. If they ARE signed however, this may well be taken into account in the judging process. 2) What about updates to the uploaded applications, ie bug fixes etc? Your entry will be judged on it's state at the time of judging. 3) Does the application have to be free for other users to download & use? Yes, the application must be freeware, and available for the whole community to download and use. Cheers! :) P

Guest JingJing Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I have created a freeware chess game based on .NET Compact Framework. The first version was released in March for PocketPCs and desktop computers, the second version (beta) was released in September - it supports Smartphone 2003. The official release of second version will be in the following weeks. Am I still eligible for the contest, considering there is no official Smartphone version yet? See the details at http://www.valil.com/chess2/smph.html Thank you This doesnt seem to run on SmartPhone 2002, isn't it? It would have been so nice if it does.
Guest maxh2003 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I don't think viliescu's chess program could ever run on Smartphone 2002, because it relies on the Microsoft .NET (Compact) Framework, which isn't available for SP2002 and possibly never will be  But you *can* buy Orneta Chess for just $4.44 at Handango...!
