Why is MoDaCo wearing an american flag ?

It is true, America does allow you to have an opinion, and you have certainly given that here....Likwise the webmaster of this site, based upon those same freedoms, chooses to put up the American flag to US-based IP address. It may sound like we are trying to suppress you but in same token, you comments are trying to suppress the usage of the American flag on this site. Why not just let it be, as you can tell the webmaster is not going to change his image.

Yes!!!!

But PLEASE, only for UK-based IP addresses!

Hey, since MoDaCo changes it looks based on the IP address, I wonder what else changes... I'll be in Europe next week, maybe MoDaCo content is different from there ? Who knows...

Same old here too im afraid. Except for me. I live in Edinburgh, UK, (who presently are getting trashed by Holland) but run AOL so Ive got the American MoDaCo dude. Not a problem with me - makes MoDaCo stand out from the rest again with its unique design features, which I like !

No, the webmaster can do what he wants.

Even if he shows the US flag only to people with US-based IP addresses, it will be seen by many non-american people, including all AOL users world-wide.

I was just raising some concerns that he may not have weighted all the political undertones of doing that.

That's all I was trying to say.

US Flag on Modaco site for the US citizens=Honourable gesture. Nothing more.

US Flag for me=Freedom... Coming from a :!: Communist country :!: , they welcomed me and my family with open arms (this was in the 80's)

US Flag at the moment=To each his own, but I believe as the bible says, all things will come to pass, God's Will.

If that means that America plays a part in being perceived as the Devil, The Bad guy, The whatever... it was written thousands of years ago... IT SHALL COME TO PASS... Good or Bad, all things happen for a reason.

Govermental speaking=All Bad... they all tell lies to get elected, and then do whatever they want... The times we live in, it all comes down to money and power.

Please CONSIDER THIS :

"NEVER PUT IN POWER FOR THOSE WHO SEEK POWER"

And this applies to ALL nations.

If one can help it, please try not to judge a countries people by its government, or its flag colors... people are people. Many good, and many bad... IN ALL NATIONS. Please respect life, and give the benefit of the doubt to all. We are ALL brothers. (and Sisters) :)

I have many great Black, Chineese, Spanish, Arabic, and White friends. I treat them all with equality, respect, and friendship. A persons character is what makes the difference, not background or skin.

Peace

I think too many personal attacks against PocketTv team for raising what *might* be a valid arguement. Lets keep this friendly please.

Now I know for sure the reason its there was to welcome American visitors since they've been able to get windows powered smartphones in the US of A.

Whether its still a good idea in the current political climate, especially with many non Americans seeing it might be a valid point, but ultimatly I think very few sane people will see it like that. Its more like political correctness gone mad, and I think we can live without the excessive political correctness and take the banner in the spirit its intended eh? :)

Although having said that I like the current neutral Modaco Dude - good colours etc, and wouldnt particularly like a British one. No political motives, just an personal preferance.

(Actually hes one for Paul - phpBB allows different themes to be user-selectable... any thought about enabling this to allow people to turn the Modaco Dude back to the default if they so choose?)

I'm not starting an argument here in ANY way, but if I remember correctly, PocketTV was the only one attacking.

I never attacked anybody. I just made a remark, and you took it as an attack, which it was not meant to be. It's not a question of memory, you can just re-read the thread.

on my screen the Modaco Dude is still wearing the stars and stripes... just a matter of IP address!

Again...no argument intended. You can say, think, believe whatever you wish. And based on my political/social beliefs, I can react to your comments. (You did do alot of editing to your posts back then though, I think I had more to react to than is shown today).

The "bullets flying at the site of stars and strips" got me going as it is representative of the small thinking in many parts of the world...in my opinion.

Either way...I didnt agree with your comments then, and I still dont use your software today. So we're both exercising our freedoms.

But let's not argue. Too much hate in this world as it is. And you know what that leads to! :)

I vote for the removal of the ModacoDude all together in favor of a whole new updated look and feel for the Modaco site, leaning more toward a "traditional" frontpage. Not traditional in style...but a better looking portal page with news bits, and more to see and do in a nicely flowing layout!

holy cr*p, this argument still going on????? if you dont like it change to the Orange one by selecting it in your profile, sheesh.

encece, as you very well know, MoDaCo dude (in its current guise) will be phased out soon, and the portal will indeed change when we implement MoDaCo 2
