Still no go here with my E200 and ActiveSync 3.7.1.

All i get is an error saying, FAILED TO INITIALIZE SMARTPHONE DEVICE.

Please ensure you have your phone connected to the computer and ActiveSync is installed and running.

I have!

PS

I have an unlocked phone and 1.1 .Net installed.

I got exactly the same error with version 1.5 of SendSMS

Neither SendSMS or ReadSMS can connect to my MPx200.  I'm running on XP Pro with AS 3.7.1.

I just saw the new 1.9 version but SendSMS still reports an error trying to initialize my MPx200. This is a US version of the device, so it should be fully unlocked.

I have also just tried version 1.9 on my MPx200: UK Orange Version with the latest software unlock (unlock3) but sadly it still doesn't work.

The error in the event log is as follows:

Failed to initialise device. Details: COM object with CLSID {CSPAM340-0B7B-4FB2-8290-92ADD6CE412B} is either not valid or not registered.

I hope this helps and that we can have an MPx200 compatible version when you have a moment.

Thanks,

Edmund

I have now tried out SendSMS version 1.9. Sadly, it still does not work on my machine. I thought it might be helpful to post the errors I was getting to assist in debugging the problem (I have already posted my software/hardware config above in this thread):

When logged on as a Power User (under Win2k, my normal login), the application seemed at first to be firing up alright, and then after a while, I get the dialog which you can see in the attached file 'dialog.jpg', telling me about a security exception that was thrown due to the fact that an attempt was made to access the registry. The details of the exception thrown can be seen in the attached file 'Exception.txt'.

I then tried logging on as a local administrator, to see if that cured the security issue. Perhaps it did, but this time the nature of the error changed: Now, no security exception was reported, but on getting through the loading process as far as the actual SendSMS GUI appearing, it now reported a 'SendSMS Issue' that it had 'FAILED TO INITIALISE SMARTPHONE DEVICE'.

I have examined the Application log, and there were a huge number of identical (except for the timestamp) entries, all of which read:

"Event Type: Error

Event Source: SendSMS

Event Category: None

Event ID: 0

Date: 13/01/2004

Time: 13:41:28

User: N/A

Computer: THORNTON

Description:

Failed to initialise device. Details: COM object with CLSID {CSPAM340-0B7B-4FB2-8290-92ADD6CE412B} is either not valid or not registered."

I even went as far as using the .NET configuration tool to upgrade the permissions of all of the assemblies listed in 'Exception.txt' to full trust. This appeared to make no difference at all.

I hope this information is useful.

Keep up the good work; I can see from version 1.1 (which works for me) that this is an excellently conceived SmartPhone tool and will in due course become an essential application.

SendSMS works just great (though I think that my sms bill will go up loads now...)

ReadSMS on the other hand works (once I did the .dll thing, but there are no SMS's in there.... any ideas?
