Guest muff Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Keep in mind that Carmack designed the game with multiplayer in scope. Even in a single-player mode, there is still a local server and a lot of data goes around between client and server. one reason I left this in (though it's not accessable at the moment - no point), was in case phone ever got multiplayer capabilities(like bluetooth) it's certainly conceivable that at some point in the future the phones will be capable of bluetooth multiplayer Quake
Guest fraser Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 That would sell a lot of phones!! Where's the Orange dev team when you need them!?!
Guest exosyphen Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Muff ... let's make some multiplayer Quake  The bad thing is the over 1 second lag on GPRS.
Guest schriss Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 How about hardware support for Mitac's 8390 GoForce2150? I found out that Mitac Mio 8390 has a nVidia GoForce2150 64bit 2D graphics engine, it has double buffered frame buffer, hardware DCT, RLE, Huffman encoding, hardware JPEG encoder, hardware display rotation, mirror, flip, etc. Graphics acceleration includes: BitBLT 256 3-op raster operations, rectangle fill, all angle line draw and others. More info and specs of GoForce2150 here: NVIDIA Handheld SDK (March 2004) http://developer.nvidia.com/object/hhsdk_home.html I wonder how much would that speed Quake up?
